King using his Pteranodon wings as cutting weapons, nice.
Pretty clever, Oda. I hadn’t thought of that. King’s essentially an upgraded verison of Mr. 1 (from the Alabasta Arc), except besides appendages that slice, he can also fly and create fire. And while I liked the idea of Sanji and Zoro teaming up, I’m surprisingly fine with the two pirate second bananas going one-on-one. For the first time, I’m getting excited about this fight!
Remember, kids, a little courtesy while trying to murder someone goes a long way.
When superpowered fighters face-off, their clash is strong enough to split the heavens (or floating water droplets if you wanna get technical). It finally happened with Luffy. This is a massive milestone. This act confirms Luffy reached endgame levels of power. That only the strongest in the world can hope to defeat him now. Oh, how my little rubber boy has grown! *sniff*
This also means Sanji and Zoro will soon reach that level. They and Luffy are the Monster Trio, after all. If Luffy’s standing on the highest plateau, his two wingmen are destined to follow.
Today’s Forecast: Cloudy, with a chance of butt whoppin’
What’s better than one enormous dragon? Two enormous dragons, a dedicated cosplayer, and a rubber pirate all duking it out.
Okay. This was a fun chapter, but not a lot happened. We got a little more of Yamato’s childhood. Yes, yes, all his friends died, and that’s gonna be juxtaposed with him having friends now. Get it? Got it? Good.
Next, we have confirmation both Kaido and Yamato are ogres. Where is Oda going with this? I’m not sure. Is there an ogre island out there on the Grandline? Guess we’ll have to find out because I doubt this arc will be the last we see an ogre, even if it’s in the flashback of an upcoming arc.
That’s the last time Kaido insults BTS in front of Luffy and Yamato
I guess Blue Apron doesn’t deliver to pirate controlled islands. They really need to get on top of that.
We got some Yamato backstory. Okay… Sure… I mean it was nice learning he had Supreme King haki at an early age and he meet Shimotsuki Ushimaru (Zoro’s Daddy?) but other than that, not much happened that interested me.
Usopp found One Piece! It was in the upper-left panel all along.
Just because a lot happened doesn’t mean it’s all important. Let’s trim the fat on this full course chapter meal and talk about what really matters: Sanji’s body changing.
Yes, fellow manga pirates fans, Sanji is becoming a real boy…or is it the opposite? Maybe Judge figured out how to unlock Sanji’s full genetic potential by nullifying whatever Sora Vinsmoke did to him through the raid suit? In any case, I smell a power up!
King and Queen kindly letting Zoro and Sanji pose before their counterattack
It’s started, Y’all! The epic fight between Team Sanji/Zoro VS Team King/Queen. I’m so excited to see it…in bits and pieces…while other fights are going on over the course of several months.
Yeah, I’m curbing my excitement here. There’s still a lot of freaking fights left and no way is the Royals VS Mosscook battle concluding before that. But I will say, seeing King and Queen working together is truly terrifying. Nice job on the art, Oda.
So, King’s a firebender. Interesting. And Zoro knows how to cut flames. Double interesting. Also, Queen once worked for Germa. Triple interesting. And Sanji owns a Germa built raid suit. Quintuple interesting. No, I meant quadruple. Lost track back there.
How many laws of physics did this panel break? None, silly. One Piece doesn’t have physics laws.
I really hope the Fire Cyborg/Sword Feet fight is a 2-on-2. I love it when Sanji and Zoro are forced to work together. The fight will also play on King and Queen’s strained relationship. While Diable McStab can indeed put their differences aside, can Heavy D. Goth do the same? We shall see.
Flower-Flower power in full effect. Nico Robin’s bloomin’ for a bruisin’ and Black Maria’s about to become fertilizer.
I don’t know if you realize this, but I love Nico Robin. She’s my favorite Straw Hat crew member. I love everything about her (Well, maybe not her design change, but that’s a whole other rant.), so this chapter is an instant classic for me.
Robin got a fight AND Brook didn’t steal her thunder! It’s mostly Robin VS Black Maria, which I wanted in the first place so good on you, Oda, for giving up the goods.
YEAH! This is Redgeek coming live from somewhere with a lot of free nachos and welcome to the Nico Robin Welcome Back Blog Party Extravaganza!
That’s right. I’ve invited every prominent anime/manga blogger from all over the internet to celebrate Robin’s semi-triumphant return to One Piece. …None showed up. But, hey, that’s okay. I’m sure their invitations just got lost in the mail. So, it’s just me and you. Would you like something to drink? I got sparkling water and dragon fruit juice. That’s it.
I say semi-triumphant because her fight hasn’t concluded. And, yes, I wish it could’ve been just Robin against Team Black Maria but the Straw Hat Archeologist works surprisingly well with Brook. We get to see what the duo have in common (a painful past) as well as how their fighting styles compliment each other. This is a true team up which could’ve easily been The Brook Show featuring Nico Robin. Safe to say, I love this fight!
You’re about 500 chapters too late for that mind game, Black Maria.
Also, Kunyun the Number. I’m…um…kinda crushing on her. I wonder if she’s single? NO! This is Robin’s special day! I’ll only talk about her!
Robot VS Dinosaur. Cyborg VS Man-Beast. Bikini Briefs VS Kilt. This chapter has it all!
Franky VS Sasaki happened. It was a Franky fight, meaning it was completely over-the-top, and I loved every minute of it. A flying triceratops, Y’all. Oda gave Sasaki the ability to fly! Crazy, just crazy. I was entertained throughout the battle. Franky may not be my number one Straw Hat (*waves at Nico Robin*) but he’s pretty darn close, especially after this fight.
Wait a minute… Something’s…not right. Oh! I know what it is!
Much better! Anyway, I like what’s hinted at by Sanji going up against a rapid laser firing Queen. It’s only a matter of time before Franky gains the knowledge to do that too. And with the General Franky wreaked from the fight this chapter, I think it’s time for an upgrade. Both for the giant robot and its cyborg creator.
On a pirate lead island whose headquarters were spacious Lived a sabertooth tiger man who said things quite racist. Who’s Who is his alias, he listens to goombay. He hated a fish-man whose friends called him Jimbei.
Jimbei joined the Straw Hats, his Sun Pirates days past Who’s who hated Luffy because Shanks kicked his ass. He’s taking it out on Jimbei, his breath like paprika Who’s Who wants to know if fish daddy heard of Nika.
A laughing sun god, Joy Boy, a tendency of D’s smiling in the face of danger. Gee, I wonder if there’s a connection? …Nah!
You see, Nika is a Sun God, worshipped by some dude Who was disappeared by the World Government, methinks that is rude. Knowledge of a Sun God, the World Government wants to keep mystery My guess is it has something to do with the long lost Void Century.
