Toshinori Yagi’s still alive? Okay. You win, Horikoshi.
That’s right. You win. I have no idea if Toshinori will survive the series. So, I’m just gonna stop guessing and enjoy the ride.
I had hoped Gentle would help save All Might but All For One shut that idea down along with America’s X-66 jets saving the former number one hero. Horikoshi removed every obstacle in AFO’s way except for Deku and Bakugo.
Look at those geeks collecting trading cards, ha! Now, if you’ll excuse me. I’m late for my Dungeons & Dragons meetup.
After thousands of death flags, we’re finally at the end of All Might’s road.
It’s not confirmed yet, but this whole chapter signaled All Might dying to protect Deku. It’s similar to how Nana Shimura sacrificed herself for Toshinori Yagi all those years ago. I’m 99.99% sure All Might is dead. If he survives, my next My Hero Academia review will contain a lot more yelling and ranting than you could ever imagine.
Yes, All Might’s dead, but he should be joining the Force—erm—One Fore All vestiges soon enough. The ole’ dead mentor encourages the hero trope is coming. Or, is he? Without a quirk of his own, is All Might’s connection to OFA severed forever? I doubt it. If only for narrative purposes. We’ll see “All Might” talking to Deku again.
“To be continued?” Did All Might eat a green 1-up mushroom when we weren’t watching?
I know you’ve seen it before. A manga/anime fight that goes on for so long it’s becomes absolutely ridiculous. Whether it be constant power-ups, cliffhangers, or last-minute saves, the longer a fight goes, the dumber it gets. All Mech VS All For One, has indeed, went on for too long.
We get it. AFO is unstoppable. And, yes, the main point of the fight is damaging AFO enough for Eri’s Rewind to finish him off. Still, AFO expunges all of his blood to counter Stain’s quirk with a quirk specifically able to do that? Come the hell on, Horikoshi! That’s just too much. Oh! But we’re not done, because AFO can apparently change his blood type.
Look, I like the explanation that the blood type quirk helped him hide in the shadows but that doesn’t take away from it being ridiculous. Again, we shouldn’t have gotten to this point or AFO’s counter to Stain should’ve been less jarring. Sure, AFO was planning ahead but that whole scene left a bad taste in my mouth. And it tastes like demon lord bodily fluid. Next chapter, I’m bringing my umbrella.
He’s also in range of the only Whataburger still open. Decisions. Decisions…
Stain is dead. No surprise there. Stain was the type of character who’s destined to go out in a blaze of glory. Well, in this case, a blaze of failure. Anyway, he died for All Might, so good for him?
Bakugo’s Explosion quirk is all All Might has to stall All For One with. Interesting how it’s the one quirk that could also be interpreted as All Might’s mech suit self-destructing. Did you see All Might rushing at AFO at the end of the chapter? Either he’s trying to use Explosion at point-blank range or he’s gonna blow himself up. …Maybe both.
I think we all knew Stain was gonna step in at some point. Horikoshi made a point of showing him following All Might several chapters ago. Seeing Stain flying on a glider that looks similar to All Mech’s gadgets has me guessing the two worked out some kind of a plan before AFO showed up.
10 internet dollars for anyone who can explain just what the flying fish ‘n chips Hagakure’s saying.
I guess so. Too bad. Seems like the Tartarus escapees were mostly just fodder to wear out Deku. There was a real opportunity to see a lot more powerful villains with crazy quirks. Oh well, I’m grateful for the ones we got.
The Aoyama/Hagakure team-up attack was great! Y’All know I’m a sucker for combo moves. Still, I don’t think it was worth the wait. Anyway, with the Kunieda fight over, that leaves only All For One and Shigaraki to deal with. We’re really nearing the end of the road, my friends.
The blast also blew up the DMV. Good job, All Might!
All Might fighting All For One at Tatoin Station. The same place he first met Midoriya in chapter one. All Might’s first appearance in the series could also be his last alive. Now, that’s what I call a poetic death flag. But, don’t worry, All Might fans. The world’s greatest hero has more Class 1-A modifications to use. No doubt he’s saving Bakugo, Todoroki, and Deku’s for last. My guess is we have at least another three or four chapters of All Might goodness left. So, stock up on your tissues now. You’re gonna need ’em.
Wait. You don’t think Horikoshi is killing All Might in chapter 400? Do you? Hmm…
Superacid injection? Ain’t that a war crime? Shh! Nobody say anything!
Just a reminder that All For One isn’t wearing underwear. Carry on.
This chapter is seven pages. Whatever’s happening with Horikoshi, I hope he’ll be okay.
More fighty-fighting between All Mech and All For One. I’m not surprised AFO’s gaining momentum. You all know how most shonen fights go: One side’s winning, then the other, then back again, La-Di-Da…someone wins. So don’t worry All Might fans, Toshinori still has plenty of Class 1-A quirks to adapt. I’m sure Bakugo and Todoroki’s quirks are getting some love. What I really want to see are Mina and Aoyama’s quirks adapted. AFO getting an acid shower and laser to the face would be so satisfying!
You really shouldn’t talk about how someone’s dressed, AFO. You look like a Dead By Daylight killer if the developers got the rights to use Balenciaga.
Yeah, that no quirk=no hero talk was always a flimsy reason to not become a hero. Iron Man. Batman. We all know with enough money, time, and technology, almost anyone can be a hero. What makes it worse is My Hero Academia takes place in the future. We’ve seen advanced technology all throughout the series. This world even has A.I. robots! Are you seriously telling me no one person or organization ever thought to build a mech suit or robot to keep the peace, Horikoshi? Oh, please!
Sure. A mech or robot is more expensive but how much more? U.A. Academy is hi-tech as hell. And think about how many robots the students destroy during training sessions. Could building an Astro Boy or Red Tornado really be that much more expensive?
“If I can’t protect the Earth, you can be damn well sure I’ll avenge it.”
Well, I, for one, didn’t love it. Before this chapter, I kept thinking how in the world Horikoshi can give Toga any sort of a happy ending when she’s a killer and terrorist. Ochaco can have all the best intentions in the world, but that same world wants Toga’s head on a pike. Horikoshi’s answer: Toga dies.
This chapter was sponsored by Delusion. Delusion: When you absolutely need a character to die a pitiful death.
What is it about this battle with Toga I love so much more than the other League fights so far? Spinner had that weird political commentary which, in my opinion, adds up to “Be nice to racists until they decide to stop being racist.”. Then you had Dabi’s battle that wore out its welcome fairly quickly and I just lost interest. But here. Watching Toga’s battle. It works.
