Lil Wayne x One Piece Song Opens Door For More Bizarre Collaborations [2D News]

Not since The Powerpuff Girls’ Ace temporary joined Gorillaz have we’ve seen such a massive musical combo involving an animated character.

While Lil Wayne’s recently released album, Tha Carter VI, garters attention from musical songwriting icon Lin-Manuel Miranda’s involvement as writer/producer, its been uncovered the elephant “singing” in one of the songs off the album, Peanuts 2 N Elephant, is in fact One Piece’s very own Zunesha.

Unnamed insiders have confirmed Lil Wayne suddenly reached out to Eiichro Oda himself requesting a One Piece character appear on an album track. Unfortunately, all of the voice actors for the Straw Hat Crew were unavailable at the time.

Not one to give up, Oda called Ben Hiura, voice of Zunesha—whose only plans for the next week was playing Star Wars Battlefront II—agreed and the most notable song on the infamous album was born.

Since its release, rumors have exploded in the anime community over the next One Piece character x music artists collaborations, including The Weeknd and whale Laboon going on tour together as well as Cardi B’s soon-to-be released single, “Outside”, featuring a hook provided by Miss Friday and Mr. 13.

Eiichiro Oda Visits Netflix’s One Piece Live Action Set [2D News]

Weeks ago, Eiichiro Oda—creator of the hit manga, One Piece—visited Netflix’s live-action One Piece set located in South Africa in order to “oversee production”, making sure the hit show doesn’t sway from Oda’s core vision.

And while that is indeed true, a source close to the cast and crew of the series, who wishes to remain anonymous, has come forth with the whole story.

According to this secret source, Eiichiro Oda was quite the fun guy while on set. Quote the source:

“It’s clear Mr. Oda hadn’t had a real vacation in years, so spent every available moment trying to get his party on. He really brought the energy up on set. It was wild!”

Maybe a little too wild, as the source when on to say throughout his visit, Oda reportedly took hundreds of goofy pictures of himself with the cast (for his own private collection to never be released), raced crewmembers in carts designed to drive around the showrunners and directors, and even took everyone white-water rafting on an off-day.

The snitching source also learned the very private Oda was talked into doing a “blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameo” as a background marine officer in a Lougetown scene. Unfortunately, the scene had to be reshot without him due to Oda’s inability to stand after injuring himself at the previous night’s cast and crew after-shoot party where a rap battle contest and twerking contest were both held.

Oda received first place in one of the contests, but the source refused to answer in which.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson Won’t Join One Piece Live Action Due To Failed Contract Negotiations [2D News]

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Netflix’s One Piece Live Action showrunner Matt Owens both recently confirmed the superstar actor and wrestler will not be joining the cast in season two as Miss Monday, a member of Baroque Works. While no official reason has been given, 2D News sources have uncovered two big reasons as to why negotiations concluded.

The first reason being Dwayne Johnson’s insistence that Miss Monday had to win against Zoro in their battle. Most fans of The Rock know the actor hates losing fights on film, so it’s no surprise that was a non-negotiable requirement to joining the cast. Apparently, Matt Owens—during a conference call—asked Eiichiro Oda (creator of the One Piece manga of which the Netflix show is based on) if he’s okay with Zoro losing to Miss Monday.

PETA accuses Straw Hat Pirates of extreme emotional abuse over calling Tony Tony Chopper “Emergency Food” [2D News]

Last week, the non-profit animal rights organization, PETA, released an official statement condemning the designation of Straw Hat Crew member Tony Tony Chopper as “Emergency Food”.

“PETA recognizes Tony Tony Chopper as an intelligent creature capable of fulfilling the same sailing duties expected of any other pirate of any other species. Any animal forced to live under constant threat of death will no doubt cause said creature enormous emotional and psychological stress and should be considered abuse.”

The statement goes further saying that the talking reindeer should immediately be returned to his native island to live out his days with his own species.

Pokémon From Hell [One Piece 1111]

Gotta catch ’em all? More like gotta escape ’em all!

Them, of course, being the Five Elders. They’re on Egghead Island to stop Dr. Vegapunk’s transmission from going full TMZ on their whole operation. And, maybe kill Monkey D. Luffy in the process. But that’s a bonus.

Flying/Dark Type, Saint Mars, found York The Greedy. If anyone knows where and how to stop the transmission it’s her. So, does that mean the World Government’s dirty laundry will remain safely locked up in history’s clothes hamper? Nope! This is the final saga, Y’all. At some point, the world must learn how awful the World Government is. It’s now or never from a narrative point of view. It’s happening!

But, it doesn’t mean York and Mars won’t try stopping the transmission. My guess is Vegapunk Stella, Shaka, and Pythagoras have a few more tricks up their dead sleeves. For example: Is it just a coincidence it’s the three dead Vegapunks broadcasting the message? Could this be happening live … inside Punk Records? Or, is there a back-up message ready to go if this one’s taken down? Basically, I’m expecting a last second twist that guarantees the message gets out.

Luckily, Jimbei hadn’t yet used his master ball.

My theory is Dr. Vegapunk snitches on the Five Elders, backing the World Government into a corner where Uranus (the weapon that instantly destroyed an entire country) is their final option in keeping the masses in check, ala Star War’s Death Star. The Revolutionaries begin making their final plays in response, leading to every country picking a side, then …World War One Piece.

Battle Of The Planets [One Piece 1110]

Imagine your grumpy, demonic powered grandpa telling you to turn off that blasted television or else. You choose else, so he and his four demon buddies decide to turn the TV off themselves. And, you along with it.

One Piece chapter 1110 is what I expected and more. Indeed, I expected to see the other four of the Five Elders appearing on Egghead. I didn’t, however, expect them to immediately get down to business. No threats. No monologuing. No hesitation. Say what you want about Boomers being out of touch, but they know how to get down to business.

Based on the chapter, St. Mars, the only flying member of the geriatric group, is trying to destroy the source of Dr. Vegapunk’s transmission located in the Labophase. St. Nusjuro’s disabling of the Pacifistas, my guess, is meant to flip the Navy back on the offensive. They’re now free to continue the Buster Call as well as fully pursue Jewelry Bonney. But lets be real, we’re in this arc’s endgame. They’re not making much of an impact going forward.

Forget Luffy. Somebody call the Ghostbusters!

One Piece Live-Action (Season One Thoughts)

I’ll try to keep this short because most One Piece fans have already watched at least some of OPLA. If you loved it, great! I’m with you. If you hated it, great! Stick with the manga and/or anime.

Seriously, as someone who doesn’t watch the anime on a regular basis due to its slow pacing, I get it. The One Piece manga/anime is created for Japanese boys. One Piece Live-Action is made for a broader audience. It’s also tasked with fitting an entire arc into eight episodes. Entire scenes, characters, and plots had to be cut to make it work. And, I think it does work. It works surprising well. But, yeah, that all depends on someone’s personal opinions about One Piece. So, if you didn’t like the changes or what was cut, I understand why you’re not feeling it.

Sour Commander Smoothie? A One Piece Rant.

smoothie00

One Piece Theorists. People, fans, in love with One Piece so much they can’t help but talk and theorize the snot out the pirate series. I put myself in that category, even if I don’t talk about it often here. Mostly because I’ve fallen out of love with One Piece. I like it a LOT, but if I had to talk about it constantly I’ll only be complaining and I don’t want that. Well, I don’t want that all the time.

I love listening/reading (thought-provoking) One Piece opinions and theories though. Mostly in forums but do subscribe to some One Piece theory YouTube channels (The ones that don’t put a freaking spoiler thumbnail in reviews. I hate that!). And boy, did one of them tick me off today. I wasn’t going to link to his video, but considering a few at most read anything I say it doesn’t matter. Plus, while I disagree with Joy Boy, I’m still subscribed and mature enough not to do otherwise because his opinion differs about a Japanese pirate comic series. I got 99 problems and Joy Boy ain’t one. Seriously, check out his videos.

Joy Boy’s Smoothie video outlines his opinions on her and Smoothie haters. Again, nothing world breaking. I’m not so much upset as disappointed with Joy Boy. I respect his opinion, but it seems he’s taking a wishy-washy stance on Smoothie’s role in Big Mom’s arc. He acknowledges she hasn’t lived up to her Sweet Commander title but throws it back at fans. We didn’t give Smoothie the title of one of the most powerful Big Mom Pirates crew members. We didn’t draw Smoothie hardly doing anything of importance throughout the entire arc. There is nothing Smoothie did, baring her devil fruit powers, that couldn’t be done by anyone else. She wasn’t a Sweet Commander. She was a lackey. A grunt.
