Imagine your grumpy, demonic powered grandpa telling you to turn off that blasted television or else. You choose else, so he and his four demon buddies decide to turn the TV off themselves. And, you along with it.
One Piece chapter 1110 is what I expected and more. Indeed, I expected to see the other four of the Five Elders appearing on Egghead. I didn’t, however, expect them to immediately get down to business. No threats. No monologuing. No hesitation. Say what you want about Boomers being out of touch, but they know how to get down to business.
Based on the chapter, St. Mars, the only flying member of the geriatric group, is trying to destroy the source of Dr. Vegapunk’s transmission located in the Labophase. St. Nusjuro’s disabling of the Pacifistas, my guess, is meant to flip the Navy back on the offensive. They’re now free to continue the Buster Call as well as fully pursue Jewelry Bonney. But lets be real, we’re in this arc’s endgame. They’re not making much of an impact going forward.
That just leaves Saints Saturn, Warcury, and Ju Peter to deal with Gear 5 Luffy. Or, should I say Luffy, Dorry, and Brogy? 3 Vs 3, Y’all! An equal fight … until Kizaru shows up again. Or, St. Nusjuro returns from his pacifista hunt. Hmm… Unless the demon horsy decides to take a crack at Team Bonney himself. Uh-oh!
So, who’s gonna stop St. Mars from destroying the broadcast’s source? Are Nami, Usopp, and the rest of the Straw Hats on the Labosphere willing to risk their lives for Vegapunk’s message? What is their motivation to stop St. Mars then? I guess he’ll just go after whoever is on the Labosphere and threaten them to cut off the global Twitch chat or else. And that’s where Zoro and Jimbe will come in.
Also, where the hell is York? I guess now is the perfect time for her to offer her services to the World Government again. Hey! Somebody’s got to get Uranus fully operational. It’s gotta be the last weapon keeping the citizens in line once Dr. Vegapunk’s State of The World Government Address leaks their secrets.
This was a great chapter! I wanted The Five Elders and, baby, I got it! We’re in the final phase of the arc. Probably another 15 to 25 chapters left unless the Straw Hats escape Egghead. That is unless Im himself shows up. Then Dragon to help stop him. Then Blackbeard and the Holy Knights because why not? And don’t forget the Foxy Pirates along with The Rock and Cobra Commander. Just kidding! Blackbeard isn’t showing up on Egghead.

You bringing up how “serious” the Gorosei are right now made me think: Oda made Gear 5th- Luffy’s Devil Fruit in general- to keep things “light hearted and comical.” And here, we’re getting quite possibly the most serious antagonists in this entire Franchise. The Embodiment Of This Series Wackiness vs “A Bunch Of Suits.” Maybe that’s what happened in the Void Century between Joyboy’s Faction and Imu’s: Imu was “all work and no play,” and Joyboy was “All Play And No Work.” And then here comes Luffy, who- despite the wackiness- has said on several occasions “He’s Always Serious.”
Maybe the end goal of the series is that kind of balance: “Not Taking Everything So Seriously.” Something like that for whatever ruling body comes out of the World Governments destruction- one that doesn’t have an “Iron Grip” like this, but a “Grip” all the same- to keep from Anarchy.
Have you ever seen the Pokemon Movie “Destiny Deoxys?” mars trying to break through the barrier around the Labophase reminds me of what Rayquaza did for most of that movie. You think he got through on the first try, or is he gonna have to try a few different times to break through.
How much longer do you think Luffy has with Gear 5th? I can’t see him keeping this state up too much longer. And the MOMENT he’s down- the Elder’s are going for BLOOD. Giants be d@mned.
I think it might be that Robin is going to try to stop Mars, prompting Nami’s group to help. This a continuation of the message Clover was trying to give, isn’t it? She’ll risk life and limb to make sure the world hears what her mentor was trying to say all those years ago. Depends on how much she hears when she wakes up. Because she WILL wake up in time to hear this message.

I think you’re on the something with Work VS Play, but it probably goes deeper into one of the main themes of One Piece: Freedom. Work VS Play could be Oda’s way to delivering his message of Freedom over Oppression.
I haven’t watched a Pokemon movie in centuries. Sorry.
Can’t comment on much else since I gave in to reading spoilers but as for Gear 5 Luffy running out of steam I don’t see that happening any time soon. Luffy first achieved Gear 5 after being defeated by Kaido. Makes sense he didn’t have much stamina then. Now, he’s eaten and hasn’t taken nearly that much damage since being on Wano. Besides, the goal isn’t to defeat the Five Elders. It’s to escape Egghead. That’s a lot easier (more or less) than having to defeat Kaido (and Big Mom).

When the Nika Reveal was transpiring, I initially tried to avoid Spoilers. But the temptation got to me and I read em. Moments like that REALLY test your mettle, huh? It makes me wonder what’s gonna happen to me when it comes time for the One Piece to be revealed. I always said I’d just drop off the internet, but now I’m not so sure.
I haven’t seen a Pokemon movie in a while, either. But I think that would be the one I’ve watched the most. Not that it’s my favorite.

I don’t know what I’m gonna do when we get to the Laugh Tale big reveals. I really want to save it for the official release but the internet will explode will every spoiler. Heck, I was spoiled on Ace’s death and it still annoys me to this day.
