Whoever said fighting never solves anything never read a Shonen manga.
More fighting, Y’all. The 2nd One For All User, Kudo, damaged Shigaraki’s psyche/opened his heart/pierced his soul. I’m not really sure anymore. In any case, En, the 6th OFA User managed to damage Master Hand Shiggy this chapter. Okay… Work.
What is there to say? Deku’s beating the crap out of Shigaraki to make him confront his own feelings of loneliness, guilt and despair. Achieving mental health through getting your ass kicked in. Is that the message Horikoshi’s trying to send? Are some people just so messed up/evil they need to eat dirt in order to understand how f-ed up they truly are? Maybe. Either way, Horikoshi didn’t write the book on that. Shonen manga has a long list of “evil” characters turning good after getting stomped. It’s just more noticeable in My Hero Academia because Horikoshi built this world on a seemingly more realistic foundation. My point? It’s simple: I’ve got nothing else to talking about, so I’m bringing this up.
Eri! Yes, there she is. Running away to help Deku, I think. Uh, how will she? What’s she gonna do? Someone on a forum I regularly visit suggested she might de-age Shigaraki into his more innocent child self. It’s possible. Or, Eri could Rewind Deku back to when he had One For All after he fully transfers the powerful quirk. Still, it’s kinda absurd thinking anyone would allow a young child to get anywhere near that battle. Who’s gonna make that call? Best Jeanist? Aizawa (Who’s currently M.I.A.)? Goodness gracious, Horikoshi, just bring in Skycrawler and wrap this fight up already!
This was a good chapter! Things are happening at least, and the art is fantastic. While confused how it’ll work, I’m intriged about how Eri can help bring an end to this final battle. I guess, I’ll just ask her. Hold on, folks. …Oh. I see. You have a Desert Eagle 50 Action Express handgun in your little purse. Well, then… Good luck!

My main concern with Eri is not whether or not she’ll be okay- if anyone is guaranteed to come out of this entire conflict alive; it WILL BE Her. It’s more “How will she get there and who in their right mind would HELP with that?” I don’t care HOW “Cinematic timing” works; there’s no way this 4/5 year old girl will make it there just running before someone stops her.
Tenko/Tomura and Eri are another example of this series adoration of parallels:
1. Hair and Eye Color
2. Awakening their quirks killed their dads
3. Both taken in by some Criminal Mastermind who want to use their bodies as a means to an end.
Though, Tomura ALSO parallels Overhaul in terms of……… well, look at what Overhaul became compared to what Tomura’s become. Their quirks are similar; their origins as orphans on the street being taken in by criminals; it’s stuff like THAT that makes you wonder: Does that mean that Eri and Overhaul are ALSO parallel’s of each other, since they both parallel Tomura in some way?
In any case; it’s rather fitting that she be involved in Saving Tenko. I’m still holding out on the idea that Tenko and Tomura- the “Decay” quirk’s will- will end up being separated by the end of this, but that’s one way to kill 2 birds with one stone: Rewind Tomura until he becomes Tenko- a literal “Second Chance At Life.”
Maybe we’ll also finally learn how her quirk TRULY works. All For One was rewound using the quirk, and actually REGAINED some power. That means that it can RESTORE lost quirks, such as- let’s say- NEW ORDER? Gonna have to deal with THAT for a minute………..
Not to mention Deku having to do what he does best and pull overtime trying to beat Tomura AND keep Eri safe. There’s also All For getting younger and getting an “itch” to be more destructive. That effect on TOMURA- he might be WAY MORE Aggressive in how he fights. To the point where he might just throw himself into the “Euphoria” and just start destroying at random; no plan- no logic- just him going about decaying everything he sees with a smile on his face- something like the thrill he got during Villain Aca. Right now, he’s still able to think rationally about how to go about destroying everything- forming an actual PLAN as opposed to just saying “F*ck It” and destroying everything by touching the ground beneath him. Then again, I don’t think Deku is going stand and “watch a masterpiece of destruction” come to pass like Re-Destro did.
This is REALLY ELABORATE Final Battle; every time I think we’re close to the finisher- Horikoshi introduces something new that I GENUINELY don’t think will be important for a few chapters. I don’t think this will be followed up on at all- I don’t even think we’ll be cutting back to Deku vs Shigaraki next chapter; I think he’s going to cut over to Sero’s battlefield and wrap that up. This is starting to feel like it’ll reach chapter 500 before all is said and done!!

I agree that it’s hard to predict where exactly Horikoshi is going with this fight and that’s what’s mainly keeping me interested. I just hope what ever the conclusion, it’s satisfying.
