You did your bet, Sentomaru.
Still, I don’t think you’re worthy of getting the chapter named after you. We did see your (short) backstory, so I guess that’s fine. Hey? Was Sentomaru’s backstory the first time we’ve seen Admiral Kizaru laugh? I think so.
Bye-bye, Sea Beast Weapons! Watch out, Navy. Animal-cyborg rights groups are gonna flip out once they find out. Talk about a PR nightmare! But, at least the Navy now controls of the PX-IIIs. Guess we’ll see them again during the final war playing a similar back-up role like the OG Pacifistas during the Marineford War.
Stussy’s down! Oh, no! How dare you finger her without permission, Rob Lucci! Forget, Zoro. Women’s rights groups are gonna rip you a new one. Knowing the World Government, he’ll probably just get promoted again. That’s what happens when the world is literally controlled by guys. Where’s Susan D. Anthony when we need her?
Luffy VS Kizaru. Kizaru may be the first Admiral to get KO’d. Or not. There’s a difference between Kizaru taking a punch nap and failing his mission. Is Oda willing to show Luffy stomping Kizaru? Are we that far into the final saga? Hard to say. I feel like this arc was made for Kizaru to be the big bad. If he’s getting the taste slapped out of his mouth, it’s happening here. But, for Luffy to simply overpower Kizaru, alone, without some sort of an edge seems…off.
And that’s where I think the light gloves come in, Y’All. If Luffy gets them, then I believe he can win. This arc basically setup Light Gloves Luffy VS Kizaru. Once Kizaru’s light powers have less of a fighting advantage, Luffy wins.
Luffy Vs Kizaru. Zoro VS Rob Lucci. Sanji VS…? Did Oda forget about poor Sanji? Nah! That’s where the Blackbeard Pirates come in. Or even Saturn! Once the barrier’s down they’ll make their move. Sanji’s about to be a busy little kicking beaver.
This was a good chapter! It’s nice seeing Kizaru question his orders. It gives him a bit of vulnerability we’ve never seen from the character. Fights are getting set up and overall tension is ramping up. The barrier going down will mark the beginning of the end of this arc and that’s where Oda hits us with one insane moment after another. Oda hitting us? Uh-oh! I can already see protesters gathering outside Shueisha. Sorry, Oda, but you brought this on yourself.

Sanji vs a Blackbeard Pirate? Yeah, so long as it’s not Catarina Devon- that might actually HURT his bounty in the eyes of the World Government- he might be the first case of a Bounty DEcreasing(I think; I can’t remember this happening any other time). But if it’s Laffite- as the other only unaccounted member of the Blackbeard pirates- then he’ll wreck his sh!t and the Bounty spikes might put him as 3rd highest on the crew.
Luffy using the Light Gloves? Eh; makes sense. The whole argument against it is Haki, but as Gear 4th shows us- “Haki Runs Out.” Not to mention Gear 5th’s time limit. Plus Luffy’s absurd Stamina might just help him stay in the fight long enough to win. Or at least make it a draw before they escape.
Or, well; WOULD Luffy choose to escape from this fight? The way I’m seeing it; part of this fight is Luffy testing himself- proving to himself that he can handle whatever threats lie up ahead. This is the man who handed them their First Major Defeat as a crew- there’s some “Payback” in there, but also he just needs to win this to see where he’s measuring up. If he can beat this man, then he’s truly ready to reach One Piece- at least in the steal trap that is the mind of Monkey D Luffy.
So- WILL he choose to escape with his friends at the first opportunity? Or stay and finish this fight properly and meet back up with them later?
Did you catch that part where Kizaru said that his “Defenses” were better than Sentomaru’s? Now how would Luffy deal with a Super Defensive Logia Moving Faster Than he has time to react to? This fight could really go either way the more I think about it.

I don’t see Sanji beating Laffite if they fight. I see it more as an introduction of Laffite’s devil fruit power with Sanji unable to deal with it at that time. Basically, it’ll be a Round 1, with the winner being Laffite. The real fight will take place later, during the SHP VS BB crew battle.
I don’t think Luffy can stay behind. There’s no other way off the island except for the Thousand Sunny. And even if Luffy wins against Kizaru, he’s gonna have to deal with the rest of the Navy, the Pacifistas, and the Seraphim (if Saturn frees them and takes control.
It’s one thing if Luffy wins, but I don’t see him dominating Kizaru with ease. He’s gonna be hurt after that fight. And without his allies, he’ll be a sitting duck for whoever’s left on Egghead.
Kizaru’s in the way and the longer the fight goes on after the barrier’s down, the more Navy members will head for the Labophase. Gotta hand it to Oda, it’s a great setup.
