Egghead Isn’t Easy To Crack [One Piece 1089]

I’m getting Enis Lobby flashbacks.

Not of the Enis Lobby arc itself, but of that massive hole in the sea the arc took place over. I seriously doubt that’s a coincidence. In fact, seeing the same type of hole at what used to be Lulusia Kingdom confirms in my mind the weapon used to destroy poor Lulusia was indeed Uranus! So, if the World Government gets their naughty hands on more Mother Flame, it’s game over. How lucky for the Celestial Dragons that Sacred Marijoa is located on top of the Red Line. They can destroy as many islands as they want and not worry about their lands flooding. Yeah… I don’t think that’s a coincidence either.

St. Saturn. It’s easy believing he’s at Egghead simply to regain control of the Seraphim but what if he’s got another purpose. He’s the Godhead of Science and Defense, after all. If he gets access to the lab Mother Flame is created, he could figure out how to make the (assumed) power source himself. Again, that’s a game over for Team Everyone But The World Government. Either way, from a story perspective, the Five Elders will probably gain access to the Mother Flame, putting the series into a classic save-the-world scenario for Team Everyone Else.

All nine Vice Admirals look like teachers I had back in high school

Oda’s bound to show us what happened on Egghead leading us to York The Greedy’s capture. There’s a lot we need to know. For example, where’s Jewelry Bonney’s head at? I’m assuming she knows Kuma’s backstory by now. What did she learn? Everything? Including Kuma’s special body that Blackbeard probably has?

Sanji’s gonna barbeque that poor cow for falling. …Save some for me, Mr. Prince!

And what’s Robin, Kaku, Stussy, Atlas, and Lilith doing? Are the missing Vegapunk Satellites repairing the ones that were “killed”? Why would the Straw Hats allow Kaku to roam around the Labophase, or did he sneak away to turn off the Frontier Dome’s Barrier? Could Robin be looking over Vegapunk Stella’s Void Century research? Well, that’s probably a big yes to that question. That leaves Stussy. Is she keeping an eye on Kaku or the Seraphim?

Bad enough St. Saturn ordered the deaths of Egghead’s research staff and technicians, then we learn the old bastard’s a misogynist too. Well, you’re right, Saturn. Women are weak and belong in the kitchen…poisoning your tapioca pudding.

York’s just mad Luffy ate all the chicken tenders

This was a great chapter! Did I say great? Hmm, I guess. Honestly, I was just gonna say it’s good but doing this review made me enjoy it even more. There’s so much that can happen from here on. I’m more excited now that when I first read the chapter. And we still don’t know what Blackbeard’s crew gonna do on Egghead. Or, where the Straw Hats are having their post-battle afterparty? There’s a bowling alley I can book for you, Luffy. But, I’ll need a small finder’s fee and all the macaroni & cheese I can eat. Deal?

The Straw hat’s have now reached a point where their battles can be offscreened!! I think we’ll see what happened the night before, too, but the fact that we aren’t seeing it right away means they’re at the same point where the story was with character’s like Shanks, Mihawk, Whitebeard, Roger, and other characters of that caliber: We don’t need to see their fights- just know that they came out on top!!

I don’t quite agree with the Straw Hats’ battles getting offscreen becoming a thing. Shanks, Blackbeard and the other top pirates have offscreen battle because Oda doesn’t want to show off their full abilities just yet. They’re endgame characters who Oda will fully reveal further in the endgame.

I think a reason Oda’s not making a big deal of the Seraphim battle is because it wasn’t the main point. The Seraphim were a means to keep the Straw Hats there until the Navy and Saturn showed up. What’s really interesting, to me at least, is what the SHs will gain from Vegapunk in terms of knowledge and possible upgrades.

That’s not to say I don’t think we’re getting flashback. I think we will of Bonney watching Kuma’s flashback, why Robin got hurt, and how the Seraphim were bubbled, but Oda’s focus as of right now seems to be on other matters.
