How To Train Your Celestial Dragon [One Piece 1086]

Decades after their visual introductions, we have the Five Elders’ names.

Was it worth the wait? Heck no! But I guess Oda wanted to keep their celestial names a secret—Wait! The Five Elders are Celestial Dragons and planets are a type of celestial body. …That took longer to connect than I care to admit.

Another connection that may seem obvious that I wasn’t sure about until now are the Five Elders being Celestial Dragons. Can you blame me? The only other CDs we’d seen were immoral bubble helmet elitists who thought the entire world revolved around them. Sure, the Five Elders are dicks but not on that superficial level (that we’ve seen so far). And after meeting St. Figarland Garling this chapter, I’ve come to the conclusion that their are basically two types of Celestial Dragons: Those who put in the effort and those who don’t.

If you think this is bad, you should see their talk about banning drag shows

I doubt the original 20 kings who made up the OG Celestial Dragons were weak nor stupid. But over the centuries my guess is most of them just wanna have fun. Those types of CDs don’t care about anything but their own self-amusement, usually at others’ expense (Rosward’s Family, for example). Then we have the CDs who put in the work. The ones with ambition. The ones who want to do more with their life than torture slaves and eat bon-bons on the couch all day. They are the Garlings, Imu, and Elder Stars of the group. So, yeah, this chapter really hit home for me that the Celestial Dragons control the world and aren’t simply mooching off it.

The Oda Box forgot to mention Saint Figarland owns Balenciaga

Returning to St. Figarland, I find it interesting this current Supreme Commander of the Holy Knights had once ruled God Valley. God Valley… Something really important has to be there if a Celestial Dragon controlled it directly and it was attacked by the Rocks’ Pirates decades ago. Could that island had been the CDs’ headquarters before moving to Sacred Marijoa? Hmm…

And what about Shanks? He was found at God Valley as a baby (according to One Piece: Film Red), so does that mean he’s a Celestial Dragon? Is that why Shanks was allowed to talk directly with the Five Elders all those chapters ago? Is Shanks St. Figarland Garling’s son? It would make sense if he is, but maybe there’s more to the story. But for now, I’m gonna assume that Shanks indeed has some World Noble blood in him.

The Mother Frame allows Uranus to work. Anyone else come to that conclusion? It makes sense the World Government would have at least one of the Ancient Weapons and that it’s only now being used because it was recently fixed. Okay so, Uranus is controlled by the WG, Poseidon by…let’s just say the Revolutionary Army because it’s likely all of Luffy’s royal friends will rise up against the WG, and Pluton by the Blackbeard Pirates. Oh, come on! You know if anyone takes Pluton from Wano it’s gonna be them. Largely different organizations have or will have control of the Ancient Weapons. The level of insanity in One Piece is about leap off the charts!

More Seraphim? Dr. Vegapunk better be paying enough for child support.

What’s S-Crocodile’s devil fruit power? It can’t be a logia. …Hmm. Maybe a copy of Magellan’s Venom-Venom Fruit? The original Croc did have a poisoned hook and Magellan’s devil fruit is one of the most powerful Paramecia powers Dr. Vegapunk would have access to. Yeah, I’m putting $50 on that theory.

Speaking of S-Crocodile, are they a boy or girl? Rumor has it Sir Crocodile was originally a woman and that (conveniently close-up) S-Crocodile panel just adds more fuel to the fire. And if they are a girl then Magellan’s fruit will keep them from being a total brawler. Oda’s sexist, Y’all. He’s not gonna give a cute (?) girl a close-range only devil fruit. Hmm, make that a $100 bet on S-Croc being a girl.

So, the OG World Noble Imu picked Lulusia Kingdom to be destroyed because it was close? That’s it? Geez! I bet he only wants Princess Vivi because she looks like Queen Lily. Someone send that skinny bastard 10 boxes of donuts. Crème filled. He’ll never recover.

Big News Morgans beats TMZ to another exclusive interview

This was a great chapter! What can I say? Oda’s on fire. He’s going all out with the lore, story, and character development. I’m having a grand ole time. Is my mic still on? Okay! I’d like to give a special shoutout to Saint Donquixote Mjosgard. He was executed for helping Shirahoshi and she may never know. Damn. I’m pouring out the rest of my peach flavored sparkling water for you, Donny. Rest In Pepperoni Power!

The contrast between Wano and Egghead is STAGGERING. Like- I think there have been more positive things said about Egghead in the last 10 or so chapters vs EVERYTHING between the end of the Time Skip and here.
The Mother Frame being a Power Source? I gotta give it to you, man: I haven’t heard THAT yet. That kind of makes sense, and it means we know where Uranos is Definitively. Gotta be honest; the idea of it being a Vegapunk Weapon Fully was……. somewhat lame.
S-Croc Venom Venom copy? That could work. Or hey; maybe he decided to give one of them Zoan abilities- if for nothing more than the sake of “Diversity” in their abilities. Then again: They have a LOT of Impel Down Prisoners and Navy Officer Devil fruits to choose from don’t they?
I talked a little about it in my past 2 posts; the idea of the “Heliocentric” theory. The Gorosei represent the 5 Planets, and Imu the Earth(“Mother Of The Sea Umi” and all that). And Imu- like the Christian Church- is postulating the Geocentric Theory of the Universe- the idea that the Solar Sytem Revolves around the Earth.
Then comes the SUN God Nika to reveal that all Planets revolve around the Sun. The “Sun” in this case presenting “Freedom,” Imu “oppression,” and the Elders needing to see the truth for themselves- that what Imu is doing to the world is wrong.
Then that ties into the idea that Luffy has to sit on the Empty Throne, but that’s another story.

I like Imu representing the “Earth” and trying to make the universe revolve around him. Not so sure about Luffy, or anyone for that matter, sitting on the Empty Throne by the end of the series. But who knows. How Oda treats royalty seems strange to me. Like, Hey! It’s okay for the masses to be controlled by unelected people with full authority…but only if they’re nice.
