Everyone Hates All For One [My Hero Academia 382]

Here comes a new challenger! Gigantomachia!

That’s right. The ultimate bruiser is back! And working for the heroes, thanks to Shinso being in the driver’s seat. You can’t end My Hero Academia without Gigantomachia and this is a great way to bring the lunkhead into the fight.

So, is it enough? Are there enough heroes on the scene to keep All For One at bay until Eri’s Rewind erases his existence? Well…probably not. AFO’s younger and probably more powerful than ever. And even if he wasn’t, all he’d have to do is hit Gigantomachia with enough physical force to break Shinso’s brainwash quirk. Basically, it not over just yet. Especially, if someone offers AFO a gaming PC with Fortnite and their HBO Max password. That’d keep him busy.

Kirishima looking banged up. Poor guy fell off Gigantomachia twice.
Supervillain or Supermodel? You decide.

Why can’t Toga use Shigaraki and Dabi’s quirks when she transforms into them? Because, plot. Yeah, yeah, it’s an emotional thang because women can’t control their emotions, right Horikoshi. Okay, I’ll get off my soapbox. Hori has to limit Toga’s power someway or else the baddies win. I guess I should wait and see how it plays out before getting too preachy. But, I swear, if the key to defeating Toga is Uravity and her talking it out in a coffee shop then dancing around a table I’m losing it.

And you thought encountering a bear in the forest was bad…

This was a good chapter! I’m loving the fight between All For One and…everyone. Well, not everyone. Skycrawler? I haven’t given up on you. Not totally, anyway. There’s always that 1% chance. There’s no one else that can show up to help other than international heroes or Jedi. Hmm… Skycrawler or Ahsoka? Don’t make me choose!

SO next time I think we’re “Rewind Time A Bit.” Considering how long it took Machia to move from Gunga to where Jaku Hospital and that city was……… Maybe around when Izuku arrived to face Tomura?
You know, I sort of forgot about that battlefield. And sort of didn’t care as much. Honestly, i’m wanting to see Aoyama’s battlefield than this. I kind of felt like that’s where Shinso was. But thinking about it, having him where Gigantomachia is made a lot of sense. Now they have a Behemoth working for THEM!!! Just more of All For One’s “Programming” blowing up in his face; first Tomura’s hatred surpassed ALL HIS F*CKING expectations, and now- having a living Beast that only functions when you tell it what to do is about to get him crushed under a mountain.
Wonder where Mina is right now? I don’t know if she’s on the back of the beast with the boys, but it wouldn’t surprise me. “Facing Your Fear” and all that.
Himiko chan’s going through something right now. I think she DOES love them, but not “enough” like she does with Uraraka and Twice. She doesn’t know as much about them as she does Twice, and wants to “Live” too much unlike the Self Destructive Touya and Tomura.
Did…… did All For One have his quirk even as a Teenager? The way we’re told, the glowing baby was born and then adults and such just started “Awakening.” So I thought that All For One was just a slimy business man, then awakened “All For One” and started on his Megalomaniacal Rampage. Slimy to his core, even as a kid- amassed wealth to try and be a “Faux Demon King,” and then got ACTUAL power to enact his plans. THAT’S the timeline that I thought.
This, though, is making me question somethings. Like, I’m not clear on if he has the ORIGINAL “All For One” quirk as his body gets rewound, or if this is still the counterfeit. If it’s the former, then……. was he hiding the quirk all that time and then people getting Quirks just let him…….. “come out of the shadows?” And if it’s the LATTER, then…….. like you said; what could come of Tomura getting a lesser copy of an incomplete quirk? Unless this has a “Copy Vestige,” too, then……..?

I think you’re thinking about all of this more than Horikoshi, ha! (I doubt any of your questions will be answered in the series.) But, yeah, it’s a shame we didn’t get an AFO backstory. That really would’ve helped in developing the character as well as the world back then. I’m guessing after a number of Japanese fans didn’t like My Villain Academia, Hori is hesitant to focus on villains only for a long stretch of time. A shame. One of favorite things about the series is it’s world building.

I’m assuming AFO always had his power but didn’t go full villain until later. Either that or it manifested during puberty like most mutants in Marvel Comics.

As for Toga. She’s a girl so she’ll probably be redeemed or be put on the path to redemption. Shonen Jump writers aren’t to be trusted to create fully developed female characters. Sometimes it happens but that’s more of an exception, not the rule.

It sometimes feels like most fans think more critically about the series than the authors; it’s something I’ve noticed after really seeing the “Dragon ball” community. The way a lot of fans do rewrites and revisions to not just Super or GT is really interesting.
Yeah, that’s probably what happened; the story is somehow shortened by the lack of attention on Villains, and yet this Finale still feels like it’s a year or so away. That’s not say that the story would be moving any faster if it were focused on the Villains- I’m simply saying that there’s a lot going on right now, and yet it feels like there’s only 2 or so REALLY important things going on right now.
Writing Female Characters in Shonen jump…….. tends to be difficult. I don’t know WHY that is, because when they CAN write Good characters of ANY Gender- THEY MAKE GEMS. I think every female character of ANY Generation of Shonen Jump has the potential to be……. well, better than some protagonists. But for whatever reason, they don’t get that same level of attention- even at the same level of screentime.

I’ve said in the past Horikoshi was taking an unusual approach to this final arc from a battle setup standpoint and wanted to see where it goes. It’s been enough time for me to say I don’t like it. It’s all over the place. He’s giving character development to characters who should’ve gotten it a long time ago. He’s relaying on surprises too much and having to backtrack to explain it. There’s no buildup. Just stuff happening. It’s messy.

It’s easy to write well written female characters, if that’s what the author wants. Most in Shonen Jump just want eye candy for its target audience and a way to make the main character look cool by making the girl like him. Then there’s the culture they grew up in and other factors I’m no doubt forgetting. Compelling female characters is a gold mine most Shonen Jump author just don’t think they need to touch.
