Hm, not much to say this week because it was mostly a fighty-fight chapter, but let’s see what I can do. Also, be warned that my doctor has recommended I don’t say his name (started with an “O” and ending with a “den”) since it causes my blood pressure to explode like a Karen having to wait longer than 20 sec. inline at the grocery store. I’ll instead replace his name with the names of cheeses. *SIGH!* The things we do to keep our sanity.
Glad we got confirmation Big Mom’s planning on double crossing Kaido. But, I have little doubt Kaido was planning on doing the same to her. They’re both not exactly known for their loyalty to anyone but their own crew.
I do wonder what Marco will do in this battle overall. I think he really is planning on taking a supporting role in all this. He’s probably just there to keep tabs on the Big Mom Pirates or maybe smack down a Number or two. He strikes me as a guy who’ll let Team Luffy do their thing while watching a couple Netflix movies (Still using Whitebeard’s account, of course.) before tending to their injuries after the fight alongside Chopper.
Black Maria. What a waste of pages. Oh, but she’s got groupies so I guess I should like her just like Provolone had fans. Bleh! I’ve got almost zero expectation Maria will do anything useful this arc expect maybe reveal she’s Yamato’s mother.
And, now we get to the main event, the um… what’s their name again? Oh, yes! Luffy’s Opening Act. Oops! I mean, the Nine Red Scabbards. Come on, Y’all! Does anyone really believe Muenster’s vassals are KO-ing Kaido? They’re the warm-up group for Luffy, Law, Kid, and whoever else isn’t Ricotta’s hype men.
So, yeah, some of them learned Saint-Marcellin’s two-sword style on the DL because they love Limburger sooo much they’d kill each other over it or something. I don’t know, I was on the phone with my therapist by this time. I wasn’t prepared on seeing Bleu de Bresse this week and ran out of medication. Thank you, Zoloft!
This chapter had a Pepper Jack flashback so it automatically gets a NO from me. Is that unfair of me? You’re damn right it is and I don’t care. Do you know how much my therapist charges per hour? A LOT! I could’ve used that money on Parmigiano Reggiano. No, not him, actual cheese. I guess my dream of buying and eating an entire cheese wheel will have to wait once again. Someday, Red. *SIGH!* Someday…

Black Maria being Yamato’s Mom? That’s certainly possible. But I do think that she’ll at least do SOMETHING in the near future- even if it’s not necessarily important.
And I fully expect one or 2 of the Scabbards to die in this battle. But I think that Oda’s using them to weaken Kaido enough for Luffy’s inevitable victory to feel realistic.
“Ashtray of Lava?” Heh-that was pretty good. I didn’t really look into the hilarity of that attack name when I read the chapter.

I never thought about the chance of some of the Scabbards dying. Not that I care, but it would be somewhat interesting.
