Ghostbusters IDW comics, great stuff. I remember reading them regularly then stopped during a storyline I wasn’t interested in (and can’t remember), but Ghostbusters Crossing Over pulled me back in. While waiting for the next issue I decided to check out a previous dimensional story about the OG Ghostbusters first meeting the Answer the Call team. I’m sure it’ll be good. I was wrong.
It’s great!
What’s there not to like? The OG Ghostbusters are doing their ghostbusting thing, making great ghostbuster banter and busting…ghosts. What more could you want? Erik Burnham knows how to write the characters and it shows. Now, take all that great interaction, add in the Answer the Call Ghostbusters and Kevin. Boom! Fun, fun, fun!

The plot takes a backseat to the characters. If you don’t like the characters, don’t read this story. It’s all about the banter, the problem solving, the humor. Dan Schoening’s art adds to the fun. It’s abstract but once you get used to it, you won’t want to be without it. It really pops when he draws ghosts. Every ghost looks otherworldly, scary. You look forward seeing the next ghost because you know it’ll look amazing.
Nitpicking mode activate! The interns, and especially the plot about the fourth’s dying dad, didn’t work. They’re basically there to get the plot going and add a tad bit of drama. Can take ‘em or leave ‘em. Thank goodness once things started popping they got sent to background land.

Ghostbusters 101 is six issues of ghostbusting wit and charm worth any fan’s time. But, remember: Don’t cross the streams!
Unless you’re into that type of thing. Then, send pics.
