Killer Klowns From Outer Space: The Game [Hands-Off Review]

Move over Dead By Daylight, there’s another unbalanced asymmetrical horror game headed for the big top.

Killer Klowns From Outer Space: The Game is based on The Dickies’ Killer Klowns music video that was later turned into a hit movie back in the 80’s—one of the scariest times in human history.

From watching others play the game on Twitch, I learned you can play as either a Killer Klown or Human. During a match, three Klowns are tasked with finding, killing, and emoting on humans, while seven Humans must work together to escape or bully the Klowns until they uninstall the game.

The Klowns look as scary as they do in the music video. All your favorites are back including Jumbo, Shorty, Rudy, and Bianca Del Rio. My personal favorite is Buggy. His special ability is making humans walk the plank. At least, that’s what happened in the dream I had last night.

Things aren’t all cotton candy and cream pies in Klownland however. The recently released game has several bugs and balancing issues the developers are diligently working on fixing between yoga classes and walking their dogs. Besides, a broken weapon or two isn’t that bad. What did you expect them to do? Wait until the game is finished before release? Get over yourself!

Also, other players curse—a lot. It must be a requirement to play the game because I haven’t heard that many f-bombs at a get-together since that time the church picnic ran out of potato salad.

Killer Klowns From Outer Space: The Game is not a movie. But it is a video game. So, if you don’t have the game, just do what I do and hold a controller while watching the movie. And, hey! If you do it while watching the music video, you’ll unlock the ringmaster costume skin. Neato!

Wakfu: The Animated Series – Season 3 Review [Hipster Hotline]

What is Wakfu? Should you watch it?

First things first, in case you don’t know what it is, Wakfu: The Animated Series is an anime-influenced French television series produced by Ankama Animation, based on the video game Dofus. More specifically, Wakfu is based on the game called—erm—Wakfu, and is an action/adventure series that isn’t afraid to be goofy, which again, is very anime-ish.

If you came here wondering if you should give it a watch, I HIGHLY recommend the series. But, that comes with three warnings:

1.) Be wary of the English dub. Ruel’s English dub voice is awful. It took me out of the story. If you have a problem with any of the English voices then watch the original French dub with subtitles.

2.) Wakfu: The Animated Series takes its lore from the Dofus and Wakfu MMORPG games. Do not expect the show to explain the World of Twelve. Seriously, I played Dofus for a couple of years back around when the show first started and even I’m confused by the lore. You are dunked into the Krosmoz universe and are expected to swim. It’s not a deal breaker but you may be confused at times and won’t understand game references or game character cameos. It also doesn’t help that some of jokes, I feel, work better or make more sense if you’re French.

3.) The Gobbowl episodes. Season one and season two both have 3 episodes each dedicated to the main cast playing Gobbowl, a soccer/American football-ish game that’s popular in the World of Twelve. Despite having some good moments, I didn’t care for them. They didn’t need to be 3 episodes long in both seasons and I feel like the show mainly did it to promote Ankama’s failed Gobbowl game.

All that said, give the show a chance. It’s really fun and I can’t recommend it enough. There will be series spoilers going forward.

Keep Your Grandma’s Hero Name Out Your Flappin’ Mouth [My Hero Academia 417]

Family can really screw us up, huh?

Intentually or unintentually, many of us have been hurt by our family. That pain can last a long time, maybe forever. Fortunately, we live in a world where mental health is being treated more seriously than it’s ever been before. So, if you’re hurting on the inside, seek help.

I don’t think Kotaro Shimura sought professional help for what happened to him as a child. Or, if I’m wrong, he should find a new therapist. The anguish of his mother, Nana Shimura, abandoning him never healed and eventually lead to the man hurting his own child, Tenko. Tenko Shimura dreamt of becoming a hero, but his father had no intention of supporting even the idea of it. He even slapped his son just because he wanted to become a hero one day. Sure, Tenko joked about his mother’s Alopecia condition beforehand, but that’s still uncalled for!

Sorry, I couldn’t resist.

Anyway. A guilt-ridden Nana finally gets to learn what became of her son after she left to get cigarettes and never returned (Note: Never try buying cigarettes from All For One). It’s a heart breaking scene. The whole chapter was an interesting look into Shigaraki’s subconscious. So, now Nana’s gone. The last One For All vestige breaking Shigaraki’s final emotional barrier. The Big Bad’s heart is now an open book, or VR simulation, for Deku to learn exactly what created such a monster.
