Wakfu: The Animated Series [Season 4 Episode 2 Review]

Episode Title: The Goddess of Love

What the heck? Might as well review this season one episode at a time. Especially since I’m loving the heck out of it so far.

Another banger of an episode! Episode two basically puts a bow on season three’s remaining characters and introduces us to the important characters of this season.

This includes the Eliatrope Goddess and Nora, Yugo and Adamai’s mother and sister respectively. And we can’t forgot their evil brother Qilby. He’s free from the state of Vermont—oh sorry—the White Dimension and ready to…I don’t know. Do stuff? I just love how eager he is to narc on Yugo for locking him up. Qilby’s that kid who always starts sh*t with his siblings but tattles the second things don’t go his way. I love it.

We’re also introduced to a blind Cra assassin. He’s listening in on the Percedal Family. What could that mean? Here’s a hint: He’s not gonna offer his services as a nanny.

AA Haki Batteries [One Piece 1122]

Let’s pour out a little oil for our robot homie.

Emet, the (not so) little robot that could. And he did—save Team Straw Hat, that is. But I don’t think anyone could guess he’d do it by unleashing Joy Boy’s haki. I wonder if Joy Boy specifically thought King Imu would be the one causing problems for his robotic friend in the future? Emet should be strong enough to take on just about any threat. Storing haki inside his buddy, Joy Boy probably thought Emet’s opponent would be a living being(s) too powerful or immune to standard weapons. Hmm… I’m really curious when Joy Boy and Emet had that conversation. My guess it’s near the end of their adventures together or even the last time they spoke.

Joy Boy’s haki (I presume) caused the Elders to retreat. Was it them specifically affected or was it King Imu? Are the Elders and King Imu linked in some way? Do the Elders even have devil fruits or does their power come directly from Imu? Hmm… That would help explain their immortality and invulnerability. So, if Imu goes down, the Five Elders go down with him. Interesting, if true.

I don’t know what’s crazier: St. Mars already back at Mary Geoise just chillin’ while waiting for his pizza delivery or King Imu spazzing out over Joy Boy’s big D. energy haki.

Earth’s Mightiest Heroes [My Hero Academia 430] [Finale]

We Are Here…at the end.

It’s the end, Y’all. Or, at least, an end. Will we see a My Hero Academia sequel one day? A continuation of My Hero Vigilantes? More My Hero movies in the future? Maybe. But for now, we’ll focus on the end of this era. The end of My Hero Academia.

Let’s take the scenic route, shall we? I’d like to give my thoughts as I read through the chapter, touching upon anything and everything that comes to mind.

Nice color spread. The final time we’ll see all of Class 2-A drawn together in color, which explains why Aoyama is there along with a visible Hagakure.

Yep. There’s a time skip. Not much of a surprise. The only question was how far Kōhei Horikoshi would jump the story along. Another expected surprise is Kota becoming an U.A. student. But, look what we have here? The Mysterious Boy is also a student! I love it! This is the beginning of Horikoshi giving us a taste of what’s been going on without diving into details. He’s letting our imagination do the hard lifting, which is fine. Every single details doesn’t have to be explained. We can infer what happened or simply wait for those stories to be told one day. Welcome to the world of a time skip ending. You’ll get used to it, kid.

Kamui Woods x Mt. Lady. Gran Torino x Recovery Girl. Deku x Melissa. Tentacole x Sugar Daddy. Shippers eatin’ good today.

Izuku Midoriya’s a hero course teacher! I never really thought about Deku’s career path after losing One For All. Him becoming a teacher makes sense. It’s interesting that Deku is monologuing the lessons he learned at age seventeen. Didn’t he defeat All For One when he was sixteen? Hmm… An error, maybe?

Deku’s writing. Remember: The manga was always framed in a way where Deku’s talking about events like they had already happened. Looks like Horikoshi is bookending the series with us seeing Deku writing about the events he’s talked about since Chapter One.

A Helping Hand [My Hero Academia 429]

Never underestimate the power of kindness.

It’s not just something awful happening. It’s the feeling no one else cares what you’re going through that also hurts. Being alone when the going gets tough is something I wouldn’t wish on almost anyone. Looking at you, Bluegeek.

Which brings me to Ochaco Uraraka and the Mysterious Boy. Both of them going through a difficult time. Both of them in need of someone who cares. I’ve come down on Horikoshi at times, but I absolutely praise the man for not only showing his characters saving the world but wanting to improve society itself.

They can finally catch up on watching The Bear and House of the Dragon.

Uraraka got bogged down by thoughts of the world passing Himiko Toga by, and therefore, wouldn’t care about her feelings about the dead villain. Mystery Boy was about to lash out at a world he thought passed him by as he suffered alone for years. Just the sheer act of empathy from Class 2-A and the Old Lady changed their lives forever. Will empathy prevent all future crime and sadness? No. But it will lessen it to a degree, and in turn, make the world a better place to live in.

Go On Then, The One Piece Isn’t Gonna Find Itself [One Piece 1021]

Bonney got her revenge, sorta.

Luffy caused most of the damage to St. Saturn, but sure, let’s all agree Bonney got her resolution. It’s a weak ending to a weak-ish arc villain. Saturn, you suck. Sure, you’re evil and all, but you lack the charisma or swag other big One Piece villains have. Here’s hoping you fall into the sea and die.

I was so sure Admiral Kizaru would attack one more time. Doesn’t look like it’s happening. I get it. His heart isn’t in this mission and it’s affecting his fighting ability. Still, I wonder if the Five Elders will try to put some blame on him? I mean, what else are they gonna do? Blame themselves? Ha ha ha ha! Not happening. Kizaru might be in danger, Y’all. But I guess most of the Vegapunks dying will help salvage Kizzy’s career. Still, I wonder what the admiral will do going forward?

Even Thor’s jealous of how much thunder Luffy stole from Bonney.

Construction Junction, What’s Your Malfunction? [My Hero Academia 428]

Is this the calm before the final storm?

This was a surprising light hearted, slice-of-life chapter—mostly. I love seeing Class 2-A interacting with each other both in classroom and on a “mission” while just being friends. Shinso fits naturally into their dynamic along with a calmer Bakugo so much it makes me sad we won’t see much more of it soon.

What’s the lesson that’s coming? Uraraka’s sad over Toga despite the country coming together to rebuild. Deku’s also thinking about what that jackass Spinner told him before. Hmm… Could the takeaway here be not forgetting the past? Maybe the world according to Deku and Uraraka currently seems to have or want to forget about Toga and the League of Villains and moved on. But doing so will also erase what lead those villains down a dark path and ignore the problems which lead to those said paths. Basically, if you forget the past, you’re doomed to repeat it. And that, my friends, is a big no-no.

Raise your hand if you had to look up what convalescing means?

Okie Dokie Todoroki [My Hero Academia 426]

The Todoroki Saga comes to an end.

With news My Hero Academia is ending in August, we begin the farewell tour with the Todoroki Family. Dabi’s dying, but this time it’s for real. I love that final interaction between him and the rest of the family. It’s even more impactful knowing that scene will be the final time the entire Todoroki fam is together in one place.

That’s right, Y’all. Natsuo’s going no contact on daddy Endeavor. Did you also notice Natsuo was the only family member who didn’t speak to Toya? Yeah, I don’t think Natsuo’s visiting Toya again. I get the vibe he just went there to support the others that one time. Natsuo seems to be over it all. He’s done with the drama and just wants to live a happy normal life with his soon-to-be wife and the less crappy members of his family. I respect that. Bravo to Horikoshi for giving us a more realistic ending instead of a typical happily ever after scenario.

Every member of the Todoroki family carries scars, physical and emotional. And platinum credit cards. Posh drama is best drama.

Natsuo’s getting married without having a ceremony. Fuyumi quit her job as a teacher. I wonder if that’s because Japan is in a state of restoration and rebuilding or because they’re getting backlash over being related to a prominent member of the League of Villains? I’m not a Japanese culture expect, but from what I think I understand, being related to a criminal in Japan can damage a family’s reputation. Basically, people blame the family for the actions of one. Is than another reason Natsuo’s distancing himself from Endeavor? Is it also another reason Fire Daddy’s spending his retirement taking full responsibility for Toya’s behavior? To protect his other children? Hmm…

Rule 63 [One Piece 1118]

Double the Joy Boy, double the fun.

Jewelry Bonney became Joy Boy—erm—Joy Girl. That’s one powerful devil fruit she’s got. Then again, a rubber devil fruit can turn you into a toon god so it’s nothing new. The question is: What happens now? Easy. The Straw Hats escape. One of the Nika’s can catch the Thousand Sunny. Another can attack St. Mars (demon bird) and… Sanji holds off Kizaru? Come on! You know the Navy admiral’s making one last appearance before the arc ends.

I guess Dorry and Brogy will indeed escape and won’t sacrifice themselves to save everyone—nor Kuma. So far, only Stussy and Edison are being left behind. Well, Stussy at least. Edison isn’t connected to Punk Records, meaning he may be dead. What do I think, I hear you asking with Doritos baited breath? I think he’s dead…until he gets a cover story. If he doesn’t get a cover story then he’s a goner. All the male Dr. Vegapunks are dead and the women survive. Coincidence? You bet it is! Just like it being a coincidence all the Vegapunk women have negative traits. Lilith the EVIL. Atlas the VIOLENCE. York the GREEDY. Remember kids: Oda-sama’s not sexist. He’s just old and Japanese.

Censoring The D [One Piece 117]

Iron Giant? More like Glass Joe.

Just one itty bitty hit from a monstrously large pig demon was enough to down the Iron Giant. What I jobber! How the guy managed to get into that MultiVersus game I’ll never know. In any case, Dr. Vegapunk’s message was finally stopped, leaving us to wonder what he had to say about the D people. It was probably something like they have the power to change the world or are prone to addiction so shouldn’t drink alcohol. Vegapunk’s a doctor; a diagnosis is to be expected.

Blackbeard was listening to the broadcast! But we never saw a reaction from Shanks or Mihawk. Hmm… Is not showing their reaction be implied proof of the two secretly being blood related to the Celestial Dragons, as thus already knew the world was sinking?

Damn it, Joyboy! I warned you not to install Windows ME inside the robot!

And what about Edison? Looks like he’s screwed—along with the Giant Pirates. Don’t forget, their ship’s damaged. And if they can’t fix it, there’s no way they’re fitting on the Thousand Sunny. Let’s hope Franky can somehow keep their ship afloat or the Giant Pirates’ comeback tour is gonna end faster than a gluten-free dieter’s willpower when trapped inside a Krispy Kreme.

Wakfu: The Animated Series [Season 4 Episode 1 Review] [Hipster Hotline]

Because you demanded it, let’s talk about Wakfu: The Animated Series.

After reviewing Wakfu season three as a whole, I think it’d be better to do a full review of the fourth and final season once I’ve watched all thirteen episodes. If it’s anything like season three, I might have to watch it twice to really understand my feelings and give a more accurate assessment of my thoughts. But, since Wakfu doesn’t get nearly as much recognition as it deserves, I want to give my first impressions of the first episode—currently the only season four episode I’ve seen.

Short answer: I loved it!

Long answer: Here are my thoughts…
