How can Oda be so predictable, but at the same time, not? No, I’m not talking about the Robin in the room being a clone. That was pretty obvious. I’m talking about everything having to do with Komurasaki this chapter. Shall we begin?

Komurasaki is a good person deep down inside. Yeah, it was coming. I just didn’t realize we’d see it so soon. Shogun Orochi’s (not so) crazy talk is interrupted by a laughing Toko. Wow, talk about no restraint. But, hey, she’s a kid and that’s probably the entire reason Oda created the character, just for her to laugh during this scene. In an unexpected twist, Komurasaki protects Toko, probably feeling sentimental over the song she just sang. Not like she was crying under that mask while singing it or anything. Bookmark that for the Wano flashback.

Am I the only who thinks Franky and Usopp will modify Sanji’s raid suit to look like a regular suit with a cape and sunglasses?

Last time, on Power Rangers: Sanji was about to morph. This chapter he does and we meet Stealth Black, the 3rd member of Germa 66. You know, I thought he’d be yellow, but this makes more sense (Black Leg Sanji/Stealth Black). Sanji gets the standard upgrade: increased speed and durability, but his special ability is invisibility. That’s right, Sanji gets what he always wanted, to have the power to perv on naked women without getting caught. Remember All Blue? I sure don’t.

We see Page 1 in his man/beast form for the first time and from the blows he and Sanji give each other, this may be our second big fight of the arc. Law alluded to it but it goes without saying ancient zoan fruits are probably the most powerful of that type. And, it looks like all of Kaido’s strongest members will have one. That alone will make the fighting in this arc interesting since most enemy fruit fights are against paramecias. Seriously, zoans have gotten the shaft for quite a while now, but they’re back and ready to show just how deadly they can be.

Like Kaido, I hate it when people show up to my home unannounced. I mean I would if I had friends.

Kaido’s actually freaking out, Y’all! True to her word, Big Mom is coming to Wano, and she’s bringing her sharpest high heels to ram up Luffy’s butt. Kaido be damned, Strawhat’s not getting away. Well, Kaido wants none of that. No one rampages around Wano but him and his crew. Plus, he might be Big Mom’s first baby daddy and who wants to deal with that drama?

None of that matters because King flies in and sends Big Mom’s ship (and the Yonko herself) into the sea. Ouch! I’m sure that’s the end of Big Mom. We’ll definitely never ever see Big Mom again. …Yep. By the way, I didn’t see Katakuri on the ship. Is he there or holding things down Totto Land?

Did I mention King’s a freaking pteranodon?! A pteranodon that shoots fire? Holy crap, that’s awesome. Flying devil fruits are always cool, but throw in it being a dinosaur and that’s an auto-win. So, is Queen a dinosaur too? Seems like most of Kaido’s strongest guys have ancient animal devil fruits. My guess is Queen is a dinosaur too. Probably an ankylosaurus or something like it.

Wowsers! Could Shogun Orochi look any more scummy? All that’s missing are devil horns.

Orochi, X Drake, Page One. Talk about a dragon fruit fest, Kaido knows what he wants. I’m half expecting to see Godzilla pop up for a quick cameo. Staying with Orochi for a moment, he and CP0 are in talks for more seastone weapons. It is seastone weapons, right? Why else would the World Government bother with Wano? Now, I know the WG makes battleship bottoms lined with the stuff but could Oda be foreshadowing something else? Perhaps a nasty new weapon or weapons with seastone as a main component? Something to replace the Warlords? Seastone robots may be on the menu soon.

I swear Oda, if you turn Komurasaki into a marriage-hungry woman after her character’s redeemed I’ll mail you ten copies of The Vagina Monologues or at least Madtv’s version of it.

Gold digger alert! But, before that let’s check in with Luffy. You know, I never thought about it before but Luffy’s kindness must stem from Garp’s teachings. Anyway, Old Man Hyo gets an Oda Box so we may see him in the inevitable Wano flashback. Raizo gives Luffy a status update on his progress. The seastone cuff keys are guarded AND kept in a seastone box. Good on you Team Kaido for actually keeping something so valuable safe. Not sure if Raizo has a devil fruit but something tells me he’ll need help pulling this heist off. Zoro incoming?

Komurasaki’s gonna look like Nami in a komono. Calling it now.

See? That’s why Oda didn’t have Nami wear one. I know how you think, Oda-san. Can’t fool me!

So, Sanji’s soba shop is a hit among women. Shocker, I know. Nice to see him interacting with Usopp, Franky, and Robin again. Well, the party’s over, we got to introduce the Kyoshiro Family, gangsters in league with Kaido. I don’t see Kyoshiro himself as a threat fighting wise. I wonder what his ultimate role in the story will be.

Anyway, the gangsters step up and Sanji and Franky knock ’em back down. We meet a new little girl in the process, Toko. Ugh! Another kid in this arc. That’s, like, three already! Well, the kid’s funny, so that’s a plus.

Oda gets points for quickly showing how powerful Kid is by having him keep up with Luffy. Short and sweet.

Luffy and Kid are almost running the joint now. Time for the Warden, whoever he or she is, to make their debut. Vice Warden Dobon’s design is amazing. Oda’s having fun with the smile fruit designs. Also, I like Luffy and Kid’s rivalry. In a way, you can call Kid an Alternate Luffy, as in what would happen if Luffy was crueler and you’d get someone like Kid. A bit different than Blackbeard, the Anti-Luffy. If Kid is Luffy but meaner, Blackbeard is Luffy flipped. Still a pirate, but plays the long game and is already strong.

Wow! What a chapter!

Who would’ve thought Oda would throw in One Piece world current events between Wano’s acts? And, what surprises we learn.

First, Absalom is dead. Like, really dead. The type of dead that isn’t ambiguous. For someone to lose their devil fruit they have to die. Absalom is 100% dead. Let’s pour one out for the sexual assaulter. Hm, maybe not. Gecko Moria is back, but is he truly joining Team Blackbeard, or will he scamper off into the sunset? Well, considering the Warlord system might be kaput, he’s gonna need some allies. Even, if he’s an ex-Warlord. Gecko isn’t getting anything done on his own, he needs a crew. And, no, only having Perona won’t do much.

Ladies and gentlemen, Blackbeard makes his time skip debut. And, it’s glorious! The man loves a good party and at the same time, we see he’s keeping tabs on everyone important in the One Piece world. You can tell he’s taking a quick R&R before heading out to Wano to grab Kaido’s fruit in the final inning. Big hug to the folks thinking Shiryu was getting the diamond devil fruit. I’m not one of them, but I’m sure Oda will have some fun in the fated Shiryu VS Zoro fight. Cool appearance by Catarina Devon and her nine tails fruit and Pizarro and his lunch.

Buggy, Crocodile, Impel Down, Big Mom. Luffy’s been locked up more times than Martin Sheen.

Remember when Kaido got so angry we thought he’d kill Luffy and Law on sight? Amazing what a little time and a lot of alcohol can do. Luffy whips out some King’s haki and all of a sudden Kaido wants him on his team. I have a feeling everyone strong working from Kaido got their ass kicked by him. That’s his equivalent of a job interview.

We have the answer to what happened to everyone at Oden Castle: Shino’s ripe-ripe fruit. She rotted the ground. Sure, why not? Hawkings and Law had a scuffle, yet somehow Law got away. Hmm… Somone’s playing the long game. And, that someone is made of straw and doesn’t live in Oz.

“VS”. Yeah, right. Kaido has more trouble opening a bottle of mayonnaise.

We still don’t know how Nami and friends survived Kaido’s attack, but who cares right now? Poor Tama got beatdown. Don’t you just hate it when the best day of your life turns out the be the worst, or even your last?

Okay, let’s talk about the main part of the chapter: Luffy getting steamrolled. Kaido didn’t just one shot Luffy, he made sure to do so after he did his strongest attack! He allowed Luffy to go hog wild just to crush his spirit into pieces. Did I mention he tanked Luffy’s attacks without using armament haki? Yeah. Kaido’s just that freaking tough. And, that, ladies and gentlemen, is the problem.
