Bee Careful, Pop! [My Hero Vigilantes 71]

Oh goodness me, someone poured subtlety all over my chapter. Let’s see if we can dig into the heart of the matter, shall we?

MHA_V_71_005
Everyone except Billie Eilish.

Let’s start with Nomura (AKA No. 6)  using the Overclock quirk to read people on a subconscious level. I doubt Knuckleduster would willingly tell him something like that but we see an image of O’Clock explaining it. What the frick?! Hm, could Nomura have access to O’Clock’s memories? Is that what’s he’s doing to the guy? Maybe he’s got ole Knuck locked up and is somehow piping him for information about his lost quirk. It would make sense. In order for Nomura to surpass O’Clock, he needs to know everything he knows about Overclock.

Speaking of Knuckleduster, I wouldn’t be surprised if Nomura got him locked up in that abandoned building too. He did say it was his hideout, after all. Hm…hideout. In addition to the police, could Nomura be hiding out from the Villain Factory? I doubt Ujiko wants Nomura wasting his time getting a hero license or being a manager. And, we haven’t had any indication Villain Factory shenanigans are currently going on. Could Ujiko had simply gathered enough data? Or, did Nomura abandon his boss’s mission to instead focus his own plans? If true, Ujiko ain’t gonna like that one bit.

Mr. Nomura is No. 6.

Similar hair. Similar body type. It’s certainly possible, right? I mean, come on! Are we to believe Mr. Nomura just happened to run into Pop Step when she was in trouble? Nah! He’s been keeping tabs on her and intervened to stop those RPG thugs just to gain her trust.

Brains VS Booty [My Hero Vigilantes 68]

So much for my theory that Mokoto was proposing Koichi and her become business partners. Rather, she’s proposing a romantic relationship. Woo-wee! Is it getting hot in here or is it just my apartment on fire?

MHA_V_68_016
Naruhata’s famous booty? I thought that was Aizawa.

Thinking it over, I’ve got an issue with Ms. Mokoto. That being I don’t like her reasoning for wanting Koichi. Yeah, I’m sure she thinks he’s a nice guy and he did save her once, but she didn’t go with that. Her actual reasoning sounds a bit pragmatic, maybe even selfish. It’s not about how good a person Koichi is, it’s more about him being ordinary. Mokoto makes it sound like she wants stability, not necessarily Koichi. I know I’m being harsh because, again, I’m sure she likes Koichi. But, does she love him? Maybe, but I don’t think she’s in love with him if you get what I’m saying.

…No?

Basically, Pop Step loves Koichi for who he is. Makoto loves him for what he represents. There. You understand now?

…No?

Well, I’ll email you a love chart later.

Jailbait Blues [My Hero Vigilantes 67]

Seriously, Pop, just how old are you? Are you trying to get Koichi arrested?

MHA_V_67_002
Psst, Makoto. Your glasses are upside down.

We’re back in business focusing on the life of the main characters. Pop gets the spotlight as she’s trying to keep the Narufest performers on track. But, it’s too late, over the two years since Makoto left with Captain Celebrity to America, things have slowly gone downhill to the point their monthly performances will be canceled after one more show. But, hey, everyone else in the group has other stuff going on so it’s not too bad.

The problem is Pop Step doesn’t really have anything else happening and she won’t be hanging out with Koichi much because he’s getting a full-time job soon. Will she tell Koichi how she feels? Of course not! We need drama drama drama! Enter Mokoto.

Yep, Mokoto’s back in Japan and cooking for Koichi and Pop Step but we don’t know exactly why she’s back. Hm? The chapter ends with Pop Step eyeing Mokoto and Koichi touching each other but that could easily be a misdirection.

I’ll admit it, I freaked after reading this chapter. How can I not? We’re in the final season of My Hero Vigilantes!

I should’ve known something was up. You know, with how the schoolgirls called The Crawler by his true vigilante name, not The Cruller. How easily Koichi dealt with the two thugs, almost effortlessly. Just how organized he and Pop were dealing with the situation, such a huge difference from the first few chapters. Hm, I wonder if Koichi learned to fly? Nah! He’ll probably learn that in the upcoming arc.

So yeah, we time skipped TWO WHOLE YEARS from the last chapter! Koichi’s gonna graduate college soon and is looking for a full-time job, meaning his days as The Crawler will soon end. Sure, it’s not like he could be a vigilante forever but I’m just not ready for it to end damn it! Well, I shouldn’t panic. This final arc will no doubt last a good while. There’s Koichi’s search for a job, learning what happens to Pop and her idol career and, of course, Knuckleduster. Has that guy been missing for TWO DAMN YEARS?!

Shota Aizawa: Vigilante With Benefits [My Hero Vigilantes 65]

All this time Aizawa wasn’t a hero.

Okay, yeah, he’s a hero, but I’d also consider him a lawful vigilante. Or, he was until the end of this chapter. I only now realize how fitting it was having him in My Hero Vigilantes.

MHA_V_65_003
Glad he’s less of a jerk now. Guess Mineta’s once again the worst U.A. student in history.

We catch up with Aizawa and Yamada one year after Shirakumo’s death. While Yamada seems to be back to his normal self (at least on the outside), Aizawa is different, more like the sleepy Aizawa we see in the main series. It’s not because he’s gotten lazy. No, quite the opposite! He’s in ultra training mode, perfecting his fighting skills as best he can. And, all that training’s made him a tired guy.

It’s also implied Aizawa is more distant than ever, not even entertaining the idea of hanging out with his classmates. You can tell Yamada is the one holding on to their friendship, not because Aizawa’s pushing him away, but he’s just so focused on training he has little time for anything else. Guilt. Aizawa’s holding a lot of guilt over Shirakumo’s death. One of his best friends was killed by a villain and he’s doing everything he can to make sure no one else goes through what he has.

Although U.A. offers a student like Aizawa many options in how to become a professional hero, Aizawa just wants to start his agency immediately and start whopping criminal butt. No sidekicking. No Teams. Just him specializing in anti-villain combat. Like I said earlier, Aizawa became the closest thing to a vigilante without breaking the law.

Good News & Bad News [My Hero Vigilantes 64]

The good news is Aizawa took down that giant villain!

64ballsinmouth
Defeated by balls in the mouth. I can relate.

I seriously thought he was no match for Garvey but I was completely wrong. It was a hard fight, but using his wits and quirk, Shota pulled out an impossible win by keeping Garvey’s focus set on him and knocking his attacking balls in the air and away from civilians.

Yep. Everything worked out fine in the end. What a great chapter!

What’s the bad news, you say? Why do you wanna know that?! Let’s just end it here, okay? Come on. Please? Ugh, fine! Here’s the bad news:

Whether it’s the Wild Wild Pussycats or the Edgeshot Avengers. Every single hero team in the My Hero universe is freaking awesome.

We turn back the clock on the flashback and see how His Purple Highness and one of the goggles users were hurt. Turns out the goggle guy taken down was Shirakumo while he was protecting pre-schoolers and their teacher. Could Shirakumo’s injury be the catalyst for him eventually leaving UA? Honestly, that’s the only way I can think a positive guy like him who’s dead set on becoming a hero can fall. We’ll just have to wait and see I guess. For all we know, Shirakumo may bounce back and help Aizawa take Garvey down.

Speaking of Garvey. He looks very, uh, bioweapony. If not for Midnight running down his rap sheet I’d think he was one of Ujiko’s creations sent out for a test run. Midnight did say he seemed more powerful. Ujiko/The Villain Factory probably had a hand at that. Keep in mind this flashback takes place when Aizawa was in highschool. Ujiko’s been a busy little mad scientist for quite a few decades, huh?

Goggles Chrome [My Hero Vigilantes 62]

You know what? Something tells me things aren’t gonna end well for Shirakumo. Brace yourselves now, y’all. We’ve reached the beginning of the end.

62yamada
Stick with sunglasses, baby. You look like a try-hard Twitch streamer.

It’s a new semester and Aizawa and Shirakumo are still interning at Purple Highness’ agency. They’ve become a great team, so much so they (And, by “they” I mean Shirakumo) decides to partner up in a 2-on-2 training battle. Yamada and his work-study teammate, Sensoji, also team-up. By the way, whose agency are they working at? And, what’s the homeroom teacher’s name? I still need details damn it!

Anyway, Sensoji, being the established Class Jerk that he is, rags on Aizawa using goggles because he’s decided he should be the only one in the hero course with eyewear. Even though he stole the idea from Present Mic. What a meathead.

Sensoji challenges Aizawa and Shirakumo to a fight with their goggles on the line. High stakes, people. High stakes. We learn Sensoji’s quirk is Blast, and from what I can tell he fires a beam or energy force from his hands that causes a lot of random debris flying in every direction. Hence, the need for him to wear protective glasses. Anyway, Sensoji charges in on his own without Present Mic and quickly loses to Team Aizakumo.
