Koichi mastering Slide & Glide or Deku unlocking Nana Shimura’s Float Quirk? Who will be the first to master flying?

Bee Pop’s ultimate goal is revenge. If she can’t have Koichi she’ll kill herself and be forever bound to him through regret. Regret he couldn’t save her. Save his friend. And, that’s what Koichi and Pop are. Friends.

I admit I never really noticed how close they became as simply friends. They hang out together, Koichi supports Pop’s singing career while Pop supports Koichi’s vigilante hobby. They’ve grow closer and closer as a true team. No, they’re not simply friends. They are BEST friends. And, most people will tell you their soul mate is their best friend.

Koichi doesn’t have to save Pop because he’s in love with her, but that they’re the truest of friends. He’s giving everything he’s got to save Pop. No speeches. No threats. Just trying to reach her, screaming her name. It’s no wonder Bee Pop was affected by his tenacity. How couldn’t she be?! The man she thought didn’t love her is risking his life for her. Glad she was able to break free from Queen Bee’s influence.

Thank you all for coming under such terrible circumstances.

As you all know, our dear friend, Compass Kid is no longer with us. He was found blown to pieces in the alley of an antique rocking horse store. The irony being he absolutely hated horses. Don’t know why, he only talked about it when drunk and always passed out before finishing the story.

Many of us knew his end was near, that his bright chubby life was destined to fade once partnered with Rock AKA No. 6. But, our pain doesn’t hurt less because of it. In fact, it hurts more my friends because No. 6 blew his ass UP! Daaaaamn!

Can you say battle royale? Good. Can you also say fu*cking fire tornado? Hot damn, Endeavor! How many fire moves do you have?

Classic Endeavor is being Classic Endeavor, an abrasive hero not afraid to get the job done. What a jerk! How dare he get his sidekicks to clear the area before using a powerful long range attack! And, the nerve of him treating a high-scale villain attack seriously! It’s almost like he’s the number two hero and that comes with a level of professionalism or something. The asshole.

Basically, what I’m saying is Endeavor’s a jerk, but he’s still a Pro Hero. He WILL get the job done, just don’t expect him to do it with a smile on his face and without the villain getting beat up. That’s usually tolerable but as you know dear readers, Endeavor isn’t going after villains. One is a victim of body and mind manipulation and the other is a well-meaning citizen.

About time an A-tier hero showed up. Queen Pop’s blowing up building left and right and the police sends Naruhata freakin’ Compass Kid? Glad you finally got a clue, Detective Tsukauchi.

We learn why a young Pop Step first wanted to become an entertainer. As a way to get on TV and thank Koichi for saving her. That’s fine, but I’m glad she continues to do so because she enjoys it and not just because of Koichi.

Queen Pop attacks again but the C-Team heroes are ready to go. Oh, I’m sorry. I meant to say, D-Team. These jokers couldn’t catch COVID-19 in a packed bar during Spring Break let alone Queen Pop.

Where do I begin with this guy? For one thing, why Compass Kid? Did he never think to change it after getting older? Hm? Can you change your hero name? Midnight did make a big deal about picking a good name early on in the main series, after all.

Anyway, Compass Kid is also rockin’ a classic superhero costume, complete with a cape. AND, he’s talking about his family. AND he’s patrolling as part of the Naruhata Enhanced Vigilante Project on what could be his days off. Yep, he’s gonna die, y’all.

Speaking of family:

Am I the only one here seeing a possible family resemblance? Hm…

We have the motivation. We have the tools. Ladies and Gentlemen, we’re about to reach peak Koichi.

Let’s be real here. Koichi’s already strong. If he took the Hero License Exam that day he’d pass with flying colors. He’s basically mastered ground speed and maneuverability. His Shooty-Go-Blam is strong too. Right now, it looks like his main issue is a lack of stamina while wallcrawling. And, with Soga and friends’ help, Koichi will improve even further.

Can you imagine? Well, we won’t have to in another month or two, but Koichi will be insanely strong, y’all! Speed, maneuverability, long-range offensive power, all of it taken to his highest potential. Look, after all this, Koichi still may not be able to beat No. 6 in a straight-up fight. But, he’ll sure as hell give him a run for his money.

Seeing Koichi’s abilities brought home for me that he’s really O’Clock’s successor and not Knuckleduster’s. Koichi is the hero underneath the vigilante. While Soga is the vigilante underneath the reformed thug. Soga is Knuckleduster’s true successor. He’s fully embraced it, which probably means KD can’t do it himself anymore. Yes, I keep bringing it up but I can’t ignore the clues: Knuckleduster is probably dead.

This is what I first thought My Hero Vigilantes would be. And, maybe it’s always been that but never noticed.

I’m talking about breaking down what exactly is a hero and villain. I don’t think it’s a coincidence we got the official in-universe definition of a villain last chapter followed by Knuckleduster’s (someone who was once a hero) definition. Koichi will have to break more laws in order to save Pop Step. Does that make him a hero? Yes. Maybe not the official definition of a hero but a true hero no less.

Pop is labeled a villain and Koichi is also a suspect. All according to No. 6’s plan?

Could this be what No. 6 was after all along? Not just killing Koichi, but being billed as a hero for doing it? Let’s face it, the guy’s obsessed with being the next O’Clock and what better way to surpass the original than taking down, not only a bombing suspect but one who was originally Knuckleduster’s protege! It’s the perfect plan and has just the right amount of assholery that’s right up No. 6’s alley.

Really, Detective Tsukauchi? You’re gonna mark Pop Step as a villain when she’s done nothing but good for years? And, did you ever think how a teenager with a leaping quirk got her hands on enough bombs to destroy part of a city?! AND, she somehow got her hands on technology that hijacks wireless signals and broadcasts them through nearby electronic devices and speaker systems. Come the eff on, dude. You gotta know something more is happening here. Thank goodness at least Makoto still has Pop’s back.

The game has changed, in more ways than one.

Queen Pop Step makes her debut performance (sponsored by Def Jam Records) by blowing up the neighborhood. From what I can tell from Pop’s attitude, she’s very similar to how Tamao Oguro acted while she was possessed by the Queen Bee. Meaning, her memories are all there but her personality is totally corrupted, willing to commit acts of violence and other misdeeds without a hint of remorse.

And, to make matters worse, Queen Pop is using the trigger drug, amplifying her Leap quirk and allowing her to easily outmaneuver Koichi and escape.

Well, if discrediting Koichi and Pop Step was one of No. 6’s goals he just accomplished it! Queen Pop blew that city area up reaaaal good. No way will the police ignore that. I’m expecting Detective Tsukauchi to make his return to the series in the near future.

See, Koichi? You didn’t need to find Pop. She found you.

Correction: They found you.

And, here we go!

Just as Koichi was pondering his relationship with Pop Step, he gets attacked…by Pop Step! Or, should I say Queen Pop? As it was hinted in the last chapter, Pop did indeed become the host body of a new Queen Bee. Oh, no.

Rock. Oh! That’s why No. 6 calls himself that. It’s a music term to fit with Pop. That took me way longer to figure out than it should’ve. Anyway, I guess they’re about to double team Koichi. Well, no. I can see No. 6 hanging back while monologing. He’s gone through all the trouble of getting Pop Step, he’s gonna make sure she gets the job done. What job is that? Killing Koichi, I guess. No. 6 is a bit of a sadist, y’all. A definite a-hole through and through.
