Stain, The Rain, and All Might’s Pain [My Hero Academia 326]

A chapter featuring Toshinori and his biggest fan. No, the other one.

Stain and Toshinori finally meet! Who knew the Hero Killer would give the former number one hero the pep talk needed to keep fighting. Crazy as Stain is, Toshinori’s positive influence on Japan is still indeed alive. Hope, like crunk, ain’t dead. Right Lil’ John?

We only got a couple panels of young Toshinori, but did you notice the panel of him running similar to Deku saving Bakugo in the first chapter? A Toshinori: Origin/All Might: Origin may be on the horizon. It’s about time we learned the full story on how Toshinori meet Nana and why he was chosen to receive One For All. Wouldn’t mind seeing All Might and All For One’s first battle too. Will we ever see it? I’m not sure, but chances are O’Clock from My Hero Vigilantes discovered AFO’s location for All Might meaning the high-speed hero could make a future cameo at some point!

Who? Ed Sheeran? He’s okay, I guess.

United We Stand, Divided We Fall, That Giant Fox Woman Is Really Darn Tall [My Hero Academia 325]

We’re all in this together. Well, not me. The second Gigantomachia attacked, I fled to New Zealand. But I’m here in spirit.

Kota and Giant Fox Woman stepped up, leading to a wave of Deku support. No surprise there, but the emotions still got to me. What a lovely couple of chapters! And someone finally said it: The citizens need to get off their butts and do something! Support each other, support heroes. Don’t just turn your head if something bad is going down and hope a hero comes by. Don’t kick the remaining heroes while they’re down and still fighting for you. Step the hell up! Even if it’s just that crowd of people, it’s a start.

Oh, and a big F.U. to the shelters turning down Giant Fox Woman. Heteromorph discrimination still exists in case you forgot. Horikoshi is leading us somewhere with this. Don’t forget, Spinner’s full backstory hasn’t been revealed yet.

Except Texas toast. The world’s better off without it.

That reminds me, how come NO HERO has ever addressed discrimination in the series yet? Even Deku, back when he first saved Giant Fox Woman, didn’t chastise those jerks for trying to KILL GFW (Giant Fox Woman) based on her looks. What the ever loving fish, Deku? Yeah, I’m still pissed at that.

Super Heroes Need Love Too [My Hero Academia 324]

I got emotional reading this chapter, Y’all.

Ochaco’s speech wasn’t the stuff of legends, but it was overflowing with love. Love for her friend, her classmates, her teachers, and other fellow heroes. Heroes. Need. Support. Too. The public doesn’t have to keep putting heroes on a pedestal. No, it’s the opposite. Citizens need to realize heroes are people too. And they need their support to continue fighting. Everyone is in this awful situation together and they better start acting like it instead of hating heroes because they can’t save the day all the time, every time.

Um, Deku saved me too. Wanna talk about our similar experience over dinner, Giant Fox Woman?

Sorry, Not Not Sorry [My Hero Academia 322]

It happened. It finally happened. Bakugo apologized! Now I can like him.

Or, more acutely, I don’t have to feel guilty about liking him anymore. And he did it in front of the entire class! Good on you, Bakugo. And good on you, Horikoshi, for slowly developing Capt. Kaboom and Endeavor into likeable characters. Your hard work has really paid off!

Aoyama and Hagakure didn’t have a “moment” with Deku in these last few chapters. Just thought I’d point that out. Also, Hagakure mentioned knowing the details on U.A.’s security system. Yep, it’s coming. There was a reason Horikoshi hasn’t revealed the U.A. Traitor. SHE still has a big part to play. I’m keeping an even closer eye on Hagakure from now on. Yes, yes, I know she’s invisible. You know what I mean!

Including drinking milk directly out of the carton and putting it back in the frig.

Get a Grip, Deku! [My Hero Academia 321]

I would rather walk with a friend in the dark, than alone in the light.
-Helen Keller

Show, don’t tell. A phrase uttered describing the best kind of storytelling. It’s also a good way of showing resolve. In this chapter, we got both.

Deku had to be shown Class A isn’t weak. That they can keep up with the power of One For All. It looks like they finally got through to him. Seriously, do you know how insane it is for Ida to grab Deku going at Faux 100% speed? That’s quite the feat! Props to Ida, Uraraka, Bakugo and the entire freaking class for pulling that off. Passing grades all around!

Deku’s Class Whoopin’ [My Hero Academia 320]

It’s all been building to this. Seriously, the entirety of Class A taking on the final baddies has been a done deal for a long time.

Teamwork. Horikoshi’s been building up that theme for a while now. Villain teams, heroes teaming up in response, focus on team-ups in U.A.’s lessons. Team Lurkers, the Wild Wild Pussycats, the Top 3 teaming up, it’s all been leading to a final arc with all of Class A fighting to save Japan along with the country’s truest heroes.

And not just teamwork, the USJ Incident, the Summer Camp Arc, and internships. Class A gained a ton of real hero experience over the series again leading to this final arc with them working together to take down the Team Baddies.

The closest thing to Spider-Verse you’re ever gonna get in MHA

Even Nezu and Endeavor are on board. Endeavor’s most likely the one who told the class about Smokescreen and Danger Sense. Yep, once Deku gets his head straight (and body washed) things are gonna go fairly quickly in this final arc.

Civil War (Otaku Edition) [My Hero Academia 319]

Deku VS Class 1-A. Who wins? Who loses? Doesn’t matter as long as Mineta gets punched in the face.

Good on you, Class A for taking the initiative in finding Deku! I gotta admit I assumed it was just gonna be the Bakugo and Shoto Show with everyone else stuck at U.A. I had forgotten how cool Nezu is. Him allowing the entire class to look for Deku was a wise choice. Better for them to do it as a team and stay in contact than force them to sneak out and truly be on their own.

The chapter picks up immediately after Bakugo threw a container of orange juice against the wall.

Sucks the kids are still officially first-years but understandable. Kinda hard focusing on class with the entire country in shambles. As for the U.A. Barrier, who made it? Was it the same person who built Central Hospital’s advanced medical tech? You’re gonna explain who made all this at some point, right Horikoshi?

All For One’s Puppet [My Hero Academia 318]

Midoriya, I love you but you’re such an idiot sometimes.

You let All For One get in your head. Not literally. That’s Step 4 of his plan.

<Step 1>: Weaken you with psychological warfare.

<Step 2>: Wait for you to run out of gas while fighting villains.

<Step 3>: A villain captures you.

<Step 4>: Go mind-scaping in your brain and steal One For All.

A very obvious plan. So obvious, I wonder how NO ONE told you. I’m sure Endeavor figured it out, but he should’ve been more direct with you about it. The Number One Hero thought your critical thinking skills would override your emotions. He was wrong.

Bakugo’s not wearing his usual mask because his eyeballs got vaccinated.

It’s fitting Deku went against a villain who controls others given he’s being manipulated by AFO. Thankfully, Bakugo’s here. I…can’t believe I said that. I was sure I hated him. I…guess I don’t anymore. Okay then. Anyway, Bakugo’s back to keep Deku grounded while smacking some sense into him. Verbal smacking, of course. Wait. Do I want Bakugo to physically smacking Deku? I kinda do. What the heck’s wrong with me?!

Never Go Full Batman [My Hero Academia 317]

Oh, Deku. My Sweet Deku-chan. You’re supposed to be the next Superman, not Batman.

You’re letting All For One get in your head, dude. Not a good thing. Do you really think he expects one of the Tartarus ex-goons to take you out? Nah. It’d be a pleasant surprise but what AFO really wants is to break your spirit and wear your strength down. Then either OG AFO or AFO/Shigaraki can easily capture you. Maybe both.

Gassy Endeavor [My Hero Academia 316]

You thought All For One set up a bomb? Silly My Hero fan, it’s obvious Endeavor had way too many dried apricots for lunch.

Shigaraki just wants to destroy, but All For One wants you to suffer. Safe to say it’s not a good thing when you have his full attention. Let me put it another way: I’m glad Inko Midoriya is most likely living at U.A. right now. Shigaraki, I doubt he gives two chapped lips about Deku’s mom. But, AFO? The guy who killed Nana Shimura’s husband, turned her grandson into a monster, and loves bragging about it to All Might? Yeah…maybe you should buy some pepper spray just in case, Inko.

I wanted Deku to punch Chisaki in the face so bad! Personally, I hope Chisaki says he’s sorry for hurting Eri. Not to her face, mind you. That piece of ostrich crap shouldn’t get near Eri ever again. I think Deku just wants Chisaki to acknowledge he’s living fecal matter, even for a microsecond. Good luck with that, Deku.

AFO, the scourge of Airbnb

Keeping with Deku for a minute, I wonder how far into darkness will he go? No, I’m not talking about him going evil, but getting emotionally broken down from one fight after another without support from his friends. Is Deku slowly getting pushed into All Might’s state of mind when he “killed” AFO? Yeah, All Might crushed AFO’s head in. He wanted that bastard dead with a capitol D! Will Deku want the same at some point? Now, I’m not saying Deku will kill AFO. I’m just pondering if Deku will want to kill AFO at some point or even try to? Hmm…
