Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson Won’t Join One Piece Live Action Due To Failed Contract Negotiations [2D News]

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Netflix’s One Piece Live Action showrunner Matt Owens both recently confirmed the superstar actor and wrestler will not be joining the cast in season two as Miss Monday, a member of Baroque Works. While no official reason has been given, 2D News sources have uncovered two big reasons as to why negotiations concluded.

The first reason being Dwayne Johnson’s insistence that Miss Monday had to win against Zoro in their battle. Most fans of The Rock know the actor hates losing fights on film, so it’s no surprise that was a non-negotiable requirement to joining the cast. Apparently, Matt Owens—during a conference call—asked Eiichiro Oda (creator of the One Piece manga of which the Netflix show is based on) if he’s okay with Zoro losing to Miss Monday.

Wakfu: The Animated Series [Season 4 Episode 4 Review]

The true enemy of world peace—Politics.

Before we go there, I’d like to mention how much I loved this episode’s opening sequence. Wakfu turned the Eliatrope Goddess’ backstory into an AMV (Anime Music Video)! The music. The animation. The emotion. It all came together in an very fun way. Although “fun” may not be the correct word given what we saw.

As far as I can tell, The Eliatrope Goddess (E.G. if you’re nasty) hung out with the other gods/goddesses of the World of Twelve, then went traveling in space and met the Great Dragon (I spent two minutes researching before running away scared from all the lore). The two had a one-night stand in space (Giving a whole new meaning to “in space, no one can hear you scream”.), Yugo and his siblings were later born, then the other gods/goddesses—not liking her Baby Daddy (I think)—banished her to Space Nevada where she was trapped by some old pink-eyed dude. Trust me, it all looks cooler in the episode.

The other gods/goddesses found out her babies’ daddy doesn’t recycle.

Taylor Swift Endorses Monkey D. Luffy For Pirate King [2D News]

Pop superstar Taylor Swift shocked the world recently by endorsing Emperor Straw Hat Luffy for Pirate King hours after Dr. Vegapunk’s world-wide broadcast.

In an Instagram post, Swift encourages her fans to “do your research”, further explaining her decision to vote for Straw Hat Luffy has to do with agreeing with his desire to fight for his friends and eat slabs of various unspecified meat on a bone.

Taylor felt obligated to make an announcement now after learning a shape-shifter was posting as her while endorsing Emperor Blackbeard for Pirate King, stating “The simplest way to combat misinformation is with the truth, something even an Ancient Weapon can’t destroy.”

Surprisingly, Taylor Swift signed her post as “Childless Cat Devil Fruit User” leading fans to the realization that despite being photographed in bikinis, there’s never been footage shown of the superstar actually swimming.

Terminator Zero [Hipster Hotline]

Come with me if you want to watch a Terminator anime.

No spoilers! General thoughts only.

Not really sure if this qualifies as a “hipster” series, seeing as it’s based on a popular movie franchise, but I’ll allow it this one-time because there’s never been a Terminator anime project.

Quick Opinion: I really liked it.

Terminator Zero is an anime set in the Terminator universe, but after watching all eight episodes, I don’t think there’s any required viewing of previous Terminator movies to enjoy it, but doing so will enhance your experience. This is because The Terminator franchise involves time travel and time travel is…messy.

Because of this, Terminator Zero takes place in an alternate timeline. This gives the show room to be as crazy or subtle as it wants to be without having to worry about stepping on previous continuities. And, I think, the creators took full advantage of it. Time travel shenanigans is directly addressed in the show and I think it helps accept this version at face value while posing an interesting question about whether time travel benefits the machines or humans more.

Wakfu: The Animated Series [Season 4 Episode 3 Review]

The Eliatropes have chosen…peace?

This seems to be what’s happening—for now. The Eliatrope Goddess is using the Cloud Eyes as giant cameras keeping watch over most of the planet, sending her kids to deal with any trouble. Sounds too good to be true? Guess we’ll have to wait and see.

In the meantime, I’m loving Yugo’s interactions with his family. His tender moments with his Goddess mother; the antagonistic relationship between him and Qilby; and connecting with his sister, Nora, while out on a mission. It’s all a treat to see. A shame the only time I’m interested in Mr. Bland Yugo is when he’s fighting or interacting with more compelling characters.

Get those hairy balls out of my face!

Poor Qilby. I know. I know. The guy almost destroyed the world. But, being trapped in a white void for centuries would screw anyone up. I’m surprised he’s got any wits left about him at all. And, hey. Points for Qilby for trying to bury the hatchet between him and Yugo. Sweet, but futile as our dear Yugo is too sanctimonious to give his own brother a second chance. Geez, dude! He only tried to destroy the world. Stop making such a big deal about it!

Adamai’s suspicious of the Eliatropes and decides to leave. Good. Go find a cliff to jump off.

SF Debris [Hipster Hotline]

In a world where harsh language and sarcasm reign supreme in the online review world, a man will appear to provide insight and humor to an internet starved for video essays with actual effort put behind then. I’m speaking—of course—of content creator Chuck aka SF Debris.

Do you like science fiction? Do you like science fiction reviews? Then, SF Debris is the guy you want to watch. His reviews are in-depth, insightful, and just plain fun. You’ll learn something new all the while laughing at his hot takes and overall opinions. We’re all subscribed to—or follow—at least one reviewer so amazing at the craft we click their video no matter the subject knowing you’ll have fun. SF Debris is one of those people for me.

Star Trek. Star Wars. Doctor Who. Anime (Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, etc.). Western Animation (My Little Pony, Legend of Korra, etc.). SF Debris reviews them and more! He’s been at this for years, so there’s a level of experience along with a giant catalogue of content to explore. Prepare to spend hours watching his videos, but don’t blame me when you don’t get around to taking out the trash.

Highly recommended!

Elbaph Arc Predictions [One Piece]

The Egghead Island Arc is over.

(Spoilers ahead if you aren’t caught up with the One Piece manga).

Egghead was good, even if somewhat scrambled and a bit runny. We spent years anticipating Dr. Vegapunk’s official introduction into the series. Years waiting for the Straw Hats’s arrival on Wano. Now*, it’s time for the long-awaited Elbaph Island Arc to begin (*depending on how long Oda wants to focus on other characters before returning to the Straw Hats.). What can we expect? How will this newest adventure end? Can I successfully predict Oda’s actions?

Probably not. But, hey. Even broken clocks are right twice a day. Analog clocks, not digital, young’uns. Let’s begin with a whopper of a theory:

  • Uranus Destroys Elbaph.

When it comes to theories I say Go Big or Go Home. The World Government has access to the Mother Flame. King Imu and his Five Lackeys can easily predict the Straw Hats traveling to Elbaph after being rescued by giants. It’s a done deal in my book. Especially, with how much Usopp and Luffy wants to visit the island. Former Vice-Admiral Saul is there. It’s gonna be a fun time in Elbaph for all. Yep…it’s getting blown the hell up.

  • Dr. Vegapunk Stella Receives a Viking Funeral.

I’m thinking something like setting a small (giant version of small) boat on fire along with his body or burning his body at Elbaph atop a funeral pyre. Something inline with Elbaph culture.

  • Shanks and/or Mihawk Backstory.

Are they Celestial Dragons? How much do they know about the Void Century? Were they in a crew together at some point? Readers want to know. This revelation could also connect to…

World’s Best Hero: Koichi Haimawari Rally [My Hero Academia]

Did you know there’s an event currently happening to pick the best hero in the My Hero Academia Universe? Of course you do. Just like I’m sure you’ve been voting for Koichi Haimawari/Skycrawler EVERY SINGLE DAY.

Let me tell you wonder folks something. Skycrawler is the best hero in My Hero Academia and My Hero Vigilantes. He spent years out on the mean streets using his quirk to help people like you and me. And he did it without a hero license. He didn’t care that he could be arrested for vigilantism. He’s just a nice guy from a small town who does the right thing because it’s right.

Do you know who’s currently number one in the poll? Katsuki Bakugo. You think Katsuki Bakugo would risk jail to to help someone without a hero license? No. He doesn’t care about the little guy. All he cares is taking down the big bad villains. The Instant Villains? Small-time crooks? Nah. He’s all about the All For One’s and the Shigaraki’s. We don’t need a hero who doesn’t look out for the little guy!

Plus, Katsuki Bakugo is weird. He’s always yelling at people and blowing things up. Heck, his hero name is Great Explosion Murder God Dynamight. Who in their right mind is proud calling themself a “murder god”?! Weird I tell you. Just weird.

Wakfu: The Animated Series [Season 4 Episode 2 Review]

Episode Title: The Goddess of Love

What the heck? Might as well review this season one episode at a time. Especially since I’m loving the heck out of it so far.

Another banger of an episode! Episode two basically puts a bow on season three’s remaining characters and introduces us to the important characters of this season.

This includes the Eliatrope Goddess and Nora, Yugo and Adamai’s mother and sister respectively. And we can’t forgot their evil brother Qilby. He’s free from the state of Vermont—oh sorry—the White Dimension and ready to…I don’t know. Do stuff? I just love how eager he is to narc on Yugo for locking him up. Qilby’s that kid who always starts sh*t with his siblings but tattles the second things don’t go his way. I love it.

We’re also introduced to a blind Cra assassin. He’s listening in on the Percedal Family. What could that mean? Here’s a hint: He’s not gonna offer his services as a nanny.
