I am NOT a happy camper.

You know me. I love it when female characters get to fight in a fighting series. Last chapter ended with Mina forming her Acidman, presumably to get to Gigantomachia and toss the sedative canister in his mouth. I saw this week’s color cover of Mina and I was even more excited.

Then…I saw the chapter’s title.

Red Riot. Oh, fucking hell.

My dear Mina got thrown into the background so Kirishima could have his moment. Total. Utter. Bullshit.

Yeah, yeah. I get it. Kirishima is redeeming himself from not acting when first confronted with Gigantomachia back in middle school. But, did it have to happen at the cost of Mina’s development?! Sure, Mina was scared. But, she did what she had to do and broke down after the job was done. This here seems like her character regressed all for the sake of giving Kirishima the spotlight.

Fuck that shit!

Don’t tease me with Mina then toss her aside like Giganto did Mt. Lady. Don’t hype her up last chapter then give her the fucking cover spread just so she could be Red Riot’s prop. I hate this so damn much it’s driving me crazy!

The UA kids try putting Gigantomachia to sleep. That’s about it.

What do you want from me? A play-by-play of the chapter? You know I don’t do that. Let’s see… What to talk about… Oh! How about Hagakure still being useless even though she’s invisible? She better be the traitor because her inability to be competent is just plain sad now.

It’s a good plan by Momo, making Giggy fall then throwing sleeping, um, juice in his mouth. Too bad Shigaraki’s bodyguard isn’t having it. Transforming morale into physical energy and being numb to pain. Okay, that’s two quirks for Giganto confirmed! Gigantification is no doubt another in who the heck knows how many he’s got. Probably has a yodeling quirk mixed in just because.

Mt. Lady. Last time I said you’d last only 4 pages. I was wrong and apologize for underestimating you. I would buy you lunch at your favorite restaurant to make up for it, but I’m pretty sure you’re full from all that dirt you ate when Gigantomachia tossed you aside. OOOOOOH!

Remember the days when the heroes’ surprise attack at Gunga Villa was overwhelmingly in their favor? I even read fans complaining how one-sided the raid was! Ah, yes, I remember… Man, those fans sure were dumb. How could you not guess the situation would be eventually turned around? That’s classic storytelling. Horikoshi isn’t exactly recreating the wheel here.

Alrighty. There’s a lot of smaller things I wanna talk about, but let’s hit up the biggest plot point of the chapter: Momo deciding to lead her fellow students on an impromptu mission to knock Gigantomachia the f*ck out, with gas bombs. Wait. Did Momo create gas canisters (Apparently using roofies in Japan is illegal. The prudes!)? Looks like there could be liquid in those canisters. Hm… Maybe the plan is throwing them in his mouth? It would be the sure fire way to make sure Giganto absorbs the liquid. Plus, you’re also making him eat glass and that alone is a good way to stop anyone dead in their tracks.

Shigaraki. Shigaraki. Shigaraki.

You really are the ultimate thief.

First, you stole Stain’s fans. Then, Overhaul’s research. Then, Re-Destro’s army. And, now, you have AFO’s dream. His dream of taking the elusive One For All quirk for himself.

It’s a great plan, if my theory is right. All For One (the guy) is obsessed with OFA but his body is trashed so why not transfer a piece of your consciousness/aura/soul/whatever to your apprentice like how the OFA Users do before they die? It really is brilliant. It explains why he gave Shigaraki the original AFO quirk in the first place. He didn’t do it to be nice, he did it because his aura came with the package. He’d override Shiggy’s thoughts with his own and have a brand spanking new super body that can fend off Quirk Singularity along with his original quirk and OFA. I get it. I finally get it. It all makes sense if that’s what All For One is going for.

Guess what? There’s more fighting!

Yep. Shigaraki is a tough nut to crack and his Near High-Ends aren’t exactly making it any easier. So, we have the B-heroes busy fighting the Nigh Ends (got that term from someone online) and the rest of the heroes not fighting Shiggy are protecting the evacuees. Protecting, you ask? Yeah, Shigaraki basically ordered Gigantomachia to kill everything in his path and I doubt he’s going after squirrels and gerbils. Hm, do people keep gerbils as pets in Japan? Never mind, you get my point: There’s no backup coming. Or, at least, not much.

If Ujiko purposefully made Shigaraki weaker than All Might to preserve his brain, then what’s at 75%? It’s driving me crazy, y’all! What the hell is Shiggy’s weakness? Using too many quirks? A limit on regeneration? K-pop? I need to know!

Silly me. Until Shigaraki appeared before Deku & Bakugo I actually thought those two young heroes stood a chance. Pack your bags, Deku. Japan isn’t big enough for you and Shiggy anymore.

Of course, that depends on whether the heroes can beat Super Shigaraki and we all know that’s not happening. Unless Shiggy dies this arc, I have a feeling Gran Torino will do what he did to a young All Might and ship Deku’s 30% butt to America until it’s safe to come back. Naturally, Torino’s plan won’t work but It’d be nice seeing Deku in the US for awhile, meeting his father (Yeah, I think his dad’s in America) and Captain Celebrity. Bakugo will no doubt join him if he does leave the country because it’s Bakugo. OOOOH! There’s just so many options Horikoshi can go with at the moment. Not only with how this arc will end, but how these events will impact future arcs. I’m so excited, y’all!

Because someone’s gonna literally pay for all this destruction and it won’t be the Japanese Government. Your ass? Ha! Ha! Ha! No. Endeavor’s coming to hand you your invoice.

So, Shigaraki can choose what he wants to decay now. Pretty useful now that he has the All For One quirk. Also, we get another tease of upcoming erasure bullets when we learn Ujiko was (I think) replicating Eri’s blood. At this point, I’m thinking the erasure bullets will be a part of Shigaraki’s endgame. Makes sense. It’s a concept so awesome Horikoshi must be saving it for at or near the end of the series.

Eri’s blood, huh? It’d be really f-ed up if Shiggy got his hands on her Rewind quirk. He can basically use it as a healing quirk like Overhaul did. Yep, I’m gonna officially say he’s getting Rewind at some point. Either the original or a copy.

And to think, all that destruction could’ve been avoided if X-Limp didn’t destroy the coffee maker. The new Lord of Evil doesn’t handle mornings very well.

Where’s James Janisse when you need him? Is 13 dead? How about the Wild Wild Pussycats? Wash? Oh, who am I kidding? No one can kill Wash! Besides, they can just bubble themselves to escape. But, yeah, heroes are dying, y’all. And, big named ones at that like Crust and X-Lee. Oh, X-Learn, I think I’ll miss you the most. *sobs on morning donuts*

So, the one talking to Deku was The First User and not Nana Shimura. Okay. Interesting how he confirms Shigaraki broke free from the “shackles of humanity”. Basically, making sure Deku and the audience knows Shiggy is doing all this by choice. Sure, he was manipulated as a young kid by All For One, but aren’t all kids indoctrinated? Look, it’s not like you choose to speak English or whatever you native language is. Kids are a blank slate which is filled to some point by their caregivers and society. …Um, what was I talking about again? Oh, who cares. My guy X-Lamb is dead. WHY HORIKOSHI?! WHY!!!!!

“Should we get started early?” Hm…what does Dabi mean? And, note that he said we. Could my theory Dabi was recruiting his own separate team all this time instead of for the League of Villains be true?

Oh, my sweet Dabi. You really need an ice quirk to unlock your full fire potential, don’t you? Everything you do screams you’re getting one. And, hey! It’d be kinda fun seeing an ice/fire Dabi going up against his hero counterpart, Todoroki.

Tokoyami was great in this chapter. Saving Hawks, escaping Fat Gum’s tummy, this guy is on the road to hitting the Top 10 in the future along with Class A’s Big Three.

It was hinted All For One and One For All were connected on a metaphysical level but I never expected Nana to conference call Shigaraki before leaving Deku a voicemail warning. I wonder if she’s got Obi-Wan’s number?

Since I already mentioned her, let’s start with Nana Shimura. If she was the one at the end of the chapter who warned Deku, it’s safe to say she was really in Shigaraki’s dream. Were the rest of the Shimura Family “real” too? Maybe. But, I bet the All For One we saw was the real deal too! We also got a low-key confirmation the hand Shigaraki kept on the back of his head was Nana’s. Geez, AFO! Can you not be an asshole for one damn minute?!
