All it took to defeat King Harald was a powerful, ancient blood giant with the color of supreme king haki and the added power of an ancient zoan fruit who also wields an incredible ancient weapon that also ate a devil fruit.
Simple, yet effective.
The flashback itself seems less about the drama (which is hard for me to get into because of how stupid Harald had to act to get into this situation) and more about Oda holding off revealing Loki’s devil fruit ability and Ragnir for as long as possible. And even now, Loki’s devil fruit didn’t get a full reveal because Oda must wait until the big super awesome fight against Imu in Elbaph to unveil it. But, I’m sure it’s all gonna be worth it.
…Sorry. Sarcasm’s hard to display in reviews sometimes. *AHEM!* NO! It WON’T be worth it.
Haki is the alpha. Haki is the omega. Haki is all. All is haki. How to defeat Imu’s knights? Haki.
How to defeat someone under Imu’s Domi Reversi? Haki.
No wonder Imu was crashing (That’s what the kids say these days, right?) out when he sensed Joy Boy’s haki back in the Egghead Arc, it’s the only freaking thing that can defeat him. But, if that’s true…how does the Nika fruit factor into the equation? Does altering reality boost haki or something? Hmm…
What animal did Loki turn into? My money’s on Fenrir, the Giant Wolf from Norse mythology. –Chained-up. Part of Ragnarök (Loki wants to destroy the world, or at least the World Government). Loki’s transformation had claws. What more do you want? He’s certainly not the World Serpent, and him becoming a dragon (aka Níðhöggr) seems too redundant after Kaido and St. Killingham. But, hey! Maybe dragons are the new “6-7” and Oda’s trying to capitalize on it.
You kids and your darn numbers.
Anyway. Harald is overpowered by his more overpowered son and he dies. And with that, we see the first Knight of God permanently killed in the series. Well, not counting St. Saturn who was killed by Imu, but ole Imu probably just removed his contract and let time catch-up to Saturn. Something tells me Sommers and Killingham better watch their non-supreme king haki butts!
This was an okay chapter! I’m more glad the flashback’s ending than what happened in the chapter. That said, Loki’s the first character in One Piece to possesses a zoan fruit while wielding a zoan fruit weapon. That alone makes him quite the powerhouse. Geez! Hajrudin doesn’t even compare. What’s the point of his character? Wearing speedos and hanging out with his loser friends all day? If I wanted to see that I’d look at pictures of my life in the 2000’s.
