Wowie Zowie! I don’t even know where to begin!
You know what? Let just go through the chapter and talk about everything that comes to mind, okay?
Shakky. She’s just there to be the ultimate damsel-in-distress. That’s her role in the story: To get the Roger Pirates to God Valley. …Ow! I rolled my eyes so hard they nearly fell out of my skull. Next!
Looks like Wang Zhi was the government narc all along. That slimeball really set himself up good, considering he controls Pirate Island for decades until Blackbeard’s takeover. There’s a lesson in there somewhere, kids. Let me know when you find it.
Garling is such a bastard! He found his God Valley hookup just to kill her. What a great villain to hate. It’s no wonder Shamrock’s a total dickhead too. I can’t wait for both of their downfalls.
Monkey D. Dragon. I’d figure it’d take a while, but it seems like Dragon learned just how disgusting the Celestial Dragons are early in his Navy career. The God Valley incident was plenty enough to send Dragon down the revolutionary path.
So…why is Garp still apart of the organization? What’s going on here? Is Garp somehow playing some sort of long game against the World Government, or does he truly believe he can change things from within the system? I’m looking forward to Daddy Garp and Dragon’s final conversation before Lil’ D quits the Navy.
Keeping with Dragon, I guess he’s the one who hid Shanks in a chest seeing as he found the dying Baby Momma. Shamrock wasn’t so lucky I guess. Also, God Valley may explain why Dragon’s devil fruit is so powerful if he ate one of the prized devil fruits to be given to the winners of the human hunt. Finally! We could know what exactly is Dragon’s power!
What’s the deal with Morgans? Just who is he? Why does the World Government tolerate him? How does he get all of his intel? And why hasn’t Oda yet revealed his human form? Hmm… And, how much does Morgans know about the Void Century? I’m gonna start keeping a closer eye on that birdbrain.
Rocks D. Xebec. Or, should I say Davy D. Xebec!? Interesting. A name the World Government wants erased. We already know there’s a general hate for D.’s, but Davy D. Jones’ family must be at the top of their D. hater list.
Joy Boy was the first pirate. Davy D. Jones was a legendary pirate. Buccaneers. Fish-Men. Was everyone the Celestial Dragon truly despise all connected to the One Piece world’s first pirate crew? Hmm…
Rocks is determined to save his wife and child, no matter what. Ole Rocks has become one of the best parts of this flashback. I’m rooting for his success. But, knowing he eventually fails in at least overthrowing Imu, I’m extremely curious if he survives God Valley or is able to escape by faking his death. Harald still has a bigger role to play in the flashback and I think helping Rocks in the end is that final role.
Plus, Rocks has to tell Harald about the God Valley Incident. That’s probably what convinces him not to allow Elbaph to join the World Government.
This was a fantastic chapter! I haven’t been so invested in an arc in awhile. Please don’t fumble the ball in the last half, Oda. Thankfully, I’ve learned that won’t be the case because next chapter one of the members of the Davy Clan will be revealed to be Davy D. Bowie! Davy Bowie. Now that’s the name of a Rebel Rebel if I’ve ever heard one.
