All bad men need is a good partner to “fix” them.
Classic Oda. Who needs personal character growth when a fat ass lady is all a guy needs to be set on the righteous path? And what a path it is. King Harald did a complete 180. He’s now kind, empathic, and went to college to get his degree in diplomacy. Thanks Ida!
Can someone explain why Ida just gave up marrying Harald? Seemed a bit too sudden to me. I guess she had to “sacrifice” herself for the good of her lover and Elbaph. For a character who had an interesting introduction, Ida went full basic by the middle of the chapter. I’m not blaming Ida, mind you. I’m blaming Oda. The ole “tough” woman but is actually sweet is Oda’s bread and butter. Throw in a woman being in ♥love♥ and you get the complete average One Piece female character.
Estrid was a bit more interesting. Where did all her prophecy talk come from? Is it all just B.S.? Did no one ever call her out on it? It’s clear she’s using that feng shui talk as an excuse to go full gold digger on Harald. Hope it’s revealed one way or another the prophecy is garbage.
Who were those old bastards demanding Harald marry a noble woman of Elbaph? Were they there just to justify the plot? Harald did nothing to stop them. Thinking about it from Harald’s perspective, I guess he could always make Ida his side chick. Plus, he had a beautiful wife he had to bang to make a true heir. It’s good to be the king!
Why do I get the feeling Oda came up with the plot first and twisted the story to try and make it all make sense?
I would complain about a newborn Loki crawling up a cliffside (treeside?) but compared to what I’ve seen in One Piece, that doesn’t even crack the top ten of insane feats.
The World Government’s getting in Harald’s diplomatic way. Oh, yeah, they want something. Probably for Elbaph to join the WG. Imu may also have suspensions Elbaph’s treasure is the Nika devil fruit. Shanks probably wants to warn Harald of the Celestial Dragon’s true intentions.
This was an okay chapter! At least the flashback’s moving at a quick pace. You can tell Oda’s trying to zoom through it as fast as possible. I’m fine with that. I’m not blown away by the story. Loki’s really a good guy???? Wow! I’m sure at least six One Piece fans were surpised by that.
Let’s be real, this sorry excuse of a flashback’s mostly here to setup the final arc. Do I sound bitter? Maybe I am! I’m sick of this manga! One Piece has fallen off and I’m starting a petition to get it cancelled right now—*SMACK!*
W-what was I thinking? I must believe in GODA and trust his genius will come through like it always has. Thank you for smacking me to my senses, Big Butt Hottie. Wanna get married?
