It’s a long time coming. Good for you, Robin!
Nico Robin reunites with her childhood friend, Saul. A very straightforward chapter that needed to be this way.
Oda’s got no problem jumping scene-to-scene within an One Piece chapter. A chapter can feature dozens of named characters shown in different parts of an island or even throughout the entire world in order to advance the plot. The fact that Oda focused most of this chapter exclusively on Robin shows just how important she and her reunion with Saul is to the series.
When we first saw Robin’s childhood flashback we had little information on why the Five Elders were willing to destroy an entire island just to cover up the past. Looking back at it now with what we currently know about the history of Planet…um…One Piece, I understand why the World Government is so determined to find her.
Granted, this doesn’t change the WG being pieces of shit for destroying an island and turning a little kid into public enemy number one just to keep their dirty secrets from getting out. But, now I have a greater understanding to just how dangerous Nico Robin is to King Imu and his old cronies.
And it’s only gonna get worse for Team WG. Usopp? Ha! Nico Robin’s getting closer to Elbaph’s MVP Straw Hat Crew member with each passing chapter. She’s the key to the crew reaching Laugh Tale after they obtain the last Road Ponegliff. She’s gonna learn what happened during the Void Century and everything leading up to it. This is Robin’s time to shine!
Sorry Usopp fans. He’s probably getting one or two chapters of minor character development then fading back into the cowardly background. Elbaph is Robin’s island and everyone else just lives on it!
Loki did something unforgiveable to Elbaph. Big Mom did something unforgivable to Elbaph. I can’t wait for that flashback! Honestly, I’m a little scared for what’s to come. Everyone’s just so gosh darn happy right now that I bet Oda can’t wait to do a complete 180 degree turn and twist this arc into something completely insane. If Loki’s involved, we’re going full Ragnarök, Y’all. Hold on to your Warland butts. Things are about to pop-off!
This was a great chapter! What else could it be when it’s a Robin-focused chapter showing her reunion with Dr. Saul. Beautiful. Powerful. Amazing. Nico Robin. You may have lost your melanin, but you’ll never lose my respect.
