Wakfu: The Animated Series [Season 4 Episode 7 Review]

Toross Mordal wants to know your location. And, no, he’s not asking permission.

I think it’s safe to say the undisputed king of the Necroworld will be this season’s Big Bad. Toross Mordal’s his name; eating wakfu’s his game. And by what looks to be six Dofus attached to his body, he’s playing for keeps. Not that it wasn’t obvious considering he kept the Eliatrope Goddess prisoner for centuries. Safe to say, the World of Twelve is screwed when he decides to take an Uber there himself.

What I find interesting is the other World of Twelve gods not only banished the E.G. to Necroworld knowing it’s residents could keep her imprisoned, but—if Nora’s correct—they did it to also gain more followers. It’s not that farfetched a theory considering Necroworld is described by Nora as a “rotten reflection of the World of Twelve”. Necroworld is the way it is because of that planet’s Dofus. It’s what could have happened if Yugo really screwed up using the Eliatrope Dofus back in the OVA.

School field trips when having social anxiety.

Not that the other World of Twelve gods care. They simply want more worshippers/followers. And you thought YouTube content creators where evil!

A big shout-out to the animators for Nora’s flashback. I love how the animation changes when watching an important flashback. It first happened this season with E.G.’s banishment and now this. It’s a great way to showcase what happened in a simple yet stylized way. Good stuff.

Looking for family drama? You got it!

First, the Eliatrope Family. Adamai’s still distrustful of Team E.G. while Yugo’s all aboard. BUT! Both Yugo and Adamai are distrustful of Qilby who they think is behind the Necros invasion. Makes sense, but Qilby being a traitor is way too obvious. Besides, he makes a good point not having the Eliacube, therefore lacking the power to do so even if he wanted too. Unless he’s got a Dofus secretly shoved up his butt, he’s not the culprit.

“How many times must I tell you I’m Season Two’s Big Bag, not Season Four!”

So, who is it? We learn the Necro portals are indeed Eliatrope in origin. And Eliatrope dragons don’t have the power to make portals, so it can’t be Zombie Efrim. …Right? Hmm…

Second on the family drama list is the Percedal Family, mainly Evangelyne and her “technically I didn’t abandon you” father who absolutely abandoned her and her sister when they were kids.

Madagaskan explains Eva’s family belongs to the Murmurs’ Guild, a group of assassins. Her mother’s dying wish was for her kids not growing up around their assassin father so he dumped them on the King of Sadidia Kingdom and basically went into self-exile. Okay…

Here’s a question for you, Madagaskan: Why didn’t you leave the King of Sadidia with a note explaining all of this for when the sisters got older or at least asked the King to explain everything when he felt the time was right?

…No? Just dump them off and act like you care by secretly listening to them taking dumps and having sex? Okay, then.

Eva takes the news well enough then kicks dear old dad out. Understandable. Flopin doesn’t like this, seeing his ticket to greatness walking out of his life forever and later follows him, leaving a note for his loved ones at home explaining his actions. Good on you, Flopin!

“Oh, it’s raining. Can I borrow an unbrell—”

Flopin wants Grandpa to teach him everything he knows so he can be as awesome as his demi-god siblings. Gotta say, I’m fine with it. It’s better than growing up resentful of them and becoming a petty ass. And in return, Madagaskan can interact with at least one member of his family and maybe redeem himself. That is, after Eva forgives him for teaching her son how to be an assassin. Whoops!

Flopin has no intention of becoming an assassin but we’ll see if that stays the case or not.

This week’s Wakfu Award goes to all the world leaders except Count Hardlance (Seriously? That’s his name? Mrs. Hardlance must love him, especially on her birthday.) who blames the Eliatropes for giving the Necros access to the World of Twelve. Yeah, it’s true—but they didn’t have to be such assassins about it.
