Adventures In Legoland [One Piece 1128]

The ASPCA isn’t gonna like this chapter.

And neither do I.

Full disclosure: I liked the beginning of the Egghead Arc. And despite my overall feelings, I liked Wano and Dressrosa’s first chapters too. As far as I can remember, there hasn’t been a new One Piece arc I didn’t enjoy at the beginning (The “beginning” as I define it is the first three to five chapters).

Unfortunately, I’m just not vibing with Elbaph’s story right now. I care little about the current mystery and most of the Straw Hat’s interactions aren’t doing it for me. Right now, I’m just waiting for everything to be explained and for the prominent Elbaph characters to be introduced so we can move on to this arc’s main conflict.

So…are we just gonna pretend the Straw Hats never fought giant characters before? Oars? Who’s that?
Love the self-confidence, Nami. But, you look like 90% of all other female characters in this world. Take it down a Norse notch.

That said, there are some things I’m liking.

First is Luffy’s love for adventure. That never gets old for me. Second is why are there humans on Elbaph in the first place and why do they seem content living in an enclosed area? Is the Sun God protecting them from something or someone(s)? The locals respect the Sun God but I’m not getting the sense they’re living in constant fear of him. Understanding their situation is what’s keeping me interested the most in this arc so far.

I’m also hoping with all this gods talk we’ll see more mythical and god devil fruits. Perhaps even some that are similar to how King Imu’s devil fruit works—maybe there’s a central figure granting others powers through them. That could be how that giant cat became a lion.

Moments like this reminds me that Luffy never graduated from school.

This was a decent chapter! I don’t hate it, but my interest in Elbaph is waning which I never thought possible given how long us One Piece fans have waited getting here. It’s disappointing, but I’m hoping this is all just a slow start to what will be a grand arc with plenty of cutaways to other parts of the One Piece world. Hey! I don’t blame you, Oda. You’re overseeing One Piece Live Action season two’s production at the same time. You’ve got a lot on your plate.

Hmm… Actually it IS your fault. Let me oversee OPLA in your stead! And with me in charge I’m gonna make a few changes.

First thing’s first: Give Tony Tony Chopper a gun and sunglasses. No debate! And more ass shots! Last season we got to see Helmeppo’s butt. This season I want Smoker, Mr. 3 and Gol D. Roger’s buns on display. Hell, just start the season with the Straw Hat Crew mooning Buggy on their way to Loguetown. Happy now, Oda? Now get back to work on the manga!
