Is this the calm before the final storm?
This was a surprising light hearted, slice-of-life chapter—mostly. I love seeing Class 2-A interacting with each other both in classroom and on a “mission” while just being friends. Shinso fits naturally into their dynamic along with a calmer Bakugo so much it makes me sad we won’t see much more of it soon.
What’s the lesson that’s coming? Uraraka’s sad over Toga despite the country coming together to rebuild. Deku’s also thinking about what that jackass Spinner told him before. Hmm… Could the takeaway here be not forgetting the past? Maybe the world according to Deku and Uraraka currently seems to have or want to forget about Toga and the League of Villains and moved on. But doing so will also erase what lead those villains down a dark path and ignore the problems which lead to those said paths. Basically, if you forget the past, you’re doomed to repeat it. And that, my friends, is a big no-no.
Maybe Uraraka’s simply upset over no one missing Toga? Toga did save her in the end. Uraraka’s the only person other than the surviving members of the League of Villains who’ll miss her. I really don’t know the answer, but with this and Deku reflecting on Spinner and probably everything that’s happened in general, our main character is approaching a conclusion that may be needed to help the Mystery Boy from a few chapters ago.
I’m assuming Class 2-A treating the freshmen like kids is a joke but it gave me flashbacks of the ending to The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. You know? That part where the hobbits return home and realize they’re different people from when they started their journey and that things will never be the same for them? Yeah. Played for laughs or not, Class 2-A are forever changed by their experiences. They aren’t “just kids” they’re something else. Something more. All they can do now is use their experiences for the betterment of society. They aren’t the future heroes of the world. They ARE the heroes of the world. Quite the responsibility for ones so young, eh?
Deku’s dad is still M.I.A., Y’all. I’m starting to doubt we’ll see him. Place your bet now.
This was a good chapter! It felt very much like the slice-of-life chapters I loved reading earlier in the series. Again, I think this may be the last time we’re seeing all of Class 2-A interacting with each other. The underclass students being die-hard fans of theirs was a nice touch too. Aizawa doesn’t want to, but I think having the class do just one interview will calm the masses a bit and help get things back to normal. …What? No! I’m not just saying that because I want to be the one conducting the interview! Although… I’m prepared to clear my schedule at anytime, Aizawa. Call me!
