Optimus Emet is about to rejoin the Matrix.
Over 900 years is a good run. Sure, your best friend died and the planet flooded, but at least the WIFI still works. Emet’s about to die, Y’all. For real this time! Let’s just hope he survives long enough for Vegapunk’s recording to give us the name of the Ancient Civilization. But, hey! Oda gave us a Chekhov’s robot powers. I’m sure we’ll see what Emet can really do in the Void Century flashback.
Anyone else get the feeling Emet’s gonna self-destruct? That’s usually how it goes, right? Nothing else works but you can bet your sweet bippy the ole self-boom is oiled up and ready to go. Besides, it’s the one thing that could possibly slow down the Five Elders long enough for Team Luffy to escape.

And escape they will. The Thousand Sunny has escaped World 5-4 thanks to Atlas, so all the Straw Hats have to do is get the hell out of Dodge. Your sacrifice will not be in vain, Atlas. The Matrix welcomes your spark too. That leaves Lilith and York as the only Vegapunks left—not counting Edison who may or may not be dead. Apparently, going into statis lock cuts you off from Punk Records.
Does Lilith’s deactivation confirm she’s an android? I mean, Dr. Vegapunk Stella is a high-profile fictional scientist, meaning he’s good at just about everything instead of just being smart in a specific field or two, so cloning/cell manipulation wasn’t completely off the table. I’m just gonna assume all the Vegapunk Satellites were robots or robots in disguise and leave it at that.
The Voice of All Things. We really need an explanation of that sh*t. Since Joyboy had it, I guess we will one day.
Professor Clover’s full name is Clou D. Clover. Clou. D.=Cloud. Okay…Where are you going with this, Oda? Was this just an excuse to introduce the World Government hunting down the people of D.? Also, if the D. Clan are considered enemies of the World Nobles, why recruit them? Is it just about the World Nobles having a sick and twisted sense of satisfaction knowing members of the group they despise work for them? Yeesh! The World Nobles are truly Decepticons. That’s what I call people who are deceptive and con artists. Clever, no?
Was that last panel a shot of Impel Down prisoners? Are there Roger Pirates locked up in Impel Down?! Gotta say, I’m intrigued.
This was a good chapter! Suck Atlas died (Surprise, Surprise, the pretty Vegapunk women survive. Classic Oda.), but at least the Egghead Arc is gonna end soon. And what’s this? St. Saturn’s on the Giant Pirates’ ship. Guess he’s getting one final boot up the ass before the arc concludes. In a battle between Saturn and Luffy, one shall stand, one shall fall. Oh, no! My ride’s gonna be here in ten minutes to take me to my friend’s costume party. Later Y’all! Time to transform and roll out!
