Spinner’s writing a book. Hope he finishes it before his execution.
It wasn’t stated in the chapter but Spinner’s on death row, right? The dude was a prominent member of the group that almost destroyed Japan. At the very least, he’s getting life in prison with no chance of Hulu.
I do like the juxtaposing of the chapter being about Tomura Shigaraki’s best friend while showing bits of a Shigaraki’s exposé broadcast. The public doesn’t know much about him, so I guess Spinner’s future book on the guy is gonna be a bestseller. I wonder if Spinner can get Mr. Compress to narrate the audiobook version?
Before I go further, let me just say that I like Spinner as a character. His intentions were good joining the League of Villains, but he quickly got swallowed up by the desires and charisma of very bad, very powerful people. All of that said… Screw you, Spinner!

This motherforker had the gall to call out Deku for killing Shigaraki like it he was the bad guy. What. The. Hell?! I get Shiggy was your best bud and Player-Two in your gaming sessions. I get it. But don’t forget Spinner… You best friend…is a MASS MURDERER. He personally killed people, destroyed property resulting in deaths, and lead an organization whose followers killed and injured people. F*ck you. Seriously, f*ck you! You should be on your knees thanking whatever entity you worship I wasn’t there in Deku’s place. If you had said that to me I would’ve shoved my last ember of One For All right up your ass!
Switching gears to Chisaki/Overhaul. I love his former Yakuza Boss reading him the riot act. Get bent, Chisaki!
*SIGH!* But, then the Boss had to mention Eri. Eri will one day forget about Chisaki? Forget the man who experimented on her? The man who killed her over and over again just to make a drug? Really, dude? This is a problem I have with some fiction where a character goes through something extremely traumatic and they’re later fine because they’re now happy and surrounded by happy friends and loved ones.
No.
No. No. No!
Pain and trauma doesn’t simply disappear because you went to a high school concert and can eat candy apples as much as you want. Yes, I gave Horikoshi a pass for that school-concert-fixed-Eri bull sh*t, but I refuse to let this slide too. If you’re trying to ground your series in reality more than the usual Shonen series, you’re gonna get flack from relying on dumb Shonen tropes. Eri needs professional help. Not a hero, but emotional and psychological counseling for what she went through. It didn’t even have to be a big thing. A passing comment from Aizawa or someone saying she sees a psychologist or other mental health professional is all I wanted. Maybe I’m just projecting, but the lack of a mental heath professional in Eri’s life takes me out of the story.

This was an okay chapter! My grievances brought my enjoyment down a lot, but I guess most other readers won’t care. Maybe I’m just jealous Spinner’s book is gonna get tons of attention and my reviews don’t. Guess it’s time for me to join an evil organization too. Alexa! Where is the Republican National Convention taking place this year?
