The Todoroki Saga comes to an end.
With news My Hero Academia is ending in August, we begin the farewell tour with the Todoroki Family. Dabi’s dying, but this time it’s for real. I love that final interaction between him and the rest of the family. It’s even more impactful knowing that scene will be the final time the entire Todoroki fam is together in one place.
That’s right, Y’all. Natsuo’s going no contact on daddy Endeavor. Did you also notice Natsuo was the only family member who didn’t speak to Toya? Yeah, I don’t think Natsuo’s visiting Toya again. I get the vibe he just went there to support the others that one time. Natsuo seems to be over it all. He’s done with the drama and just wants to live a happy normal life with his soon-to-be wife and the less crappy members of his family. I respect that. Bravo to Horikoshi for giving us a more realistic ending instead of a typical happily ever after scenario.

Natsuo’s getting married without having a ceremony. Fuyumi quit her job as a teacher. I wonder if that’s because Japan is in a state of restoration and rebuilding or because they’re getting backlash over being related to a prominent member of the League of Villains? I’m not a Japanese culture expect, but from what I think I understand, being related to a criminal in Japan can damage a family’s reputation. Basically, people blame the family for the actions of one. Is than another reason Natsuo’s distancing himself from Endeavor? Is it also another reason Fire Daddy’s spending his retirement taking full responsibility for Toya’s behavior? To protect his other children? Hmm…

Shoto Todoroki. Not much to say about him. He has his friends to rely on. All things considered, he’s in a good place. Good for you, Shoto! Fuyumi’s getting a new job and Rei’s standing by her man. Not much else to stay about them. Goodbye and good luck, Team Todoroki.
But wait! There’s more! We learn Hawks is the new official Hero Public Safety Commission President! I’m surprised but it makes sense for a former top hero getting the role. Hawks’ experience with both the public and dark side of being a hero will come in handy in ushering real change to hero society.
Lady Nagant’s wait-and-see approach shows she’s still isn’t fully confident the world has changed. Let’s hope Hawks proves her wrong so she can join him in making the world better.
La Brava & Gentle. They’ve been pardoned! Glad we got to see them get a happy ending. I really hope they become official heroes. Japan needs people like them more than ever.
Spinner. Looks like we’re getting his story conclusion next time. In a more realistic world, he’d be tried for treason and either put in prison forever or executed. But with his strong desire for heteromorph equality, I can see him having an redemption arc of some kind. Stain’s dead. Shigaraki’s dead. Time to follow your own path, Spinner.
This was a great chapter! There’re more nuanced parts I’d wish we had more time to focus on, but I’m still satisfied with what we got. A wonderful start to My Hero Academia’s farewell tour. Foreigner and Aerosmith would be proud. …They’re bands on their own farewell tours. That’s the joke… Look, I’m trying to be subtle for a change. I can’t end every review with innuendo or evil clones, okay?
You called?
Shut up, Bluegeek!
