Because you demanded it, let’s talk about Wakfu: The Animated Series.
After reviewing Wakfu season three as a whole, I think it’d be better to do a full review of the fourth and final season once I’ve watched all thirteen episodes. If it’s anything like season three, I might have to watch it twice to really understand my feelings and give a more accurate assessment of my thoughts. But, since Wakfu doesn’t get nearly as much recognition as it deserves, I want to give my first impressions of the first episode—currently the only season four episode I’ve seen.
Short answer: I loved it!
Long answer: Here are my thoughts…
- The season starting with Amalia’s brother’s coronation already gives me feels knowing Amalia wasn’t by her father’s side when he died. Then the entire planet is covered with thick clouds with large eyes looking down at the world. That’s one hell of a season opener!
- Of course, the animation is fantastic. No complaints there. It’s confirmed the World of Twelve gods are missing and Inglorium, the home of the gods, is wreaked. Looks to be signs of some kind of battle. Again, it’s a good start to the season.
- Goultard and Percedal called out Adamai! Yes! Yes! YES! So glad he didn’t get a free pass given his actions last season.
- The Percedal Family is still amazing. Still loving their interactions with themselves and others.
- Yugo and Adamai finally talking it out and apologizing. Should’ve been done years ago but I can understand their feelings at the time.
- Oropo being a dick one last time. Even in death, this mofo won’t shut the hell up, warning Yugo he’ll have to make another tough choice. Dude get over yourself. Saving the world ain’t easy. The only thing Yugo can do is make the best out of any decision with all bad options. Besides, his big plan to destroy the gods would’ve failed because they aren’t in Inglorium. The jerk would’ve only destroyed his fellow Eliatropes!
- You heard me. Eliatropes are in Inglorium—including the Eliatrope Goddess! Doesn’t take a genius to know they probably had something to do with the missing gods. Especially, knowing Qilby is there too! Dun. Dun. Dun!
While I’m a bit apprehensive over the prospect of another villainous Eliatrope season, we still don’t know if or how much the Eliatropes are involved with the current state of Inglorium. But, given they’re in the antagonist shot in the opening, things are gonna sour between them and Team Yugo soon enough. Still, I’m onboard and hope the season hits it out of the park. Just please don’t let the subplots be annoying.
