The call is coming from inside the house iron giant.
Wow! I never would’ve guessed Dr. Vegapunk put the transmission transponder snail inside of the Iron Giant. That’s quite the power play from someone York was convinced had no idea what she was secretly up to. Makes me wonder if Vegapunk Stella had just finished planting the snail inside of the Iron Giant when Luffy, Chopper, Jimbe, and Jewelry Bonney showed up in the junkyard way back in the beginning of the arc.
But, if that’s the case—and York is to be believed—Dr. Vegapunk seemingly had no idea she was a snitch and thief. So, what happened? My guess: Punk Records achieved sentience. It was in the driver’s seat, directing Vegapunk Stella to prepare for the World Government’s attack. It would also explain how Stella knew what York was up to. Even if she didn’t synchronize with the other Vegapunks, York was still connected to Punk Records. And it decided to act, using Stella’s body to help get the job done. I’m not fully confident about this theory but I’m sure the answer is connected to Punk Records in some way.

Hmm… Could Punk Records have also put a bit of Mother Flame inside Iron Giant as well as the broadcasting snail? The robot needs power to operate and Mother Flame is an energy source so it checks out. Here’s another thought: Is Pluton powered by Mother Flame energy too? If it’s an Ancient Weapon, I doubt it’s just powered by wind sails.
Also, why did Joyboy desire the Ancient Weapons to exist for future generations? Did he know, in the end, he would probably lose and tasked future generations to keep fighting The Alliance? Oooh! I can’t wait to get that Void Century flashback one day!
Stussy. She’s gonna free Kaku. I hope he helps her escape. He and Rob Lucci both know what’s it’s like to be on the run from the World Government, after all. Still, I wonder when we’ll get her full backstory? It doesn’t look like it’s happening in this arc. I guess Oda’s gonna show it along with Edward Weevil’s origin, assuming he’s a clone like her. In any case, I don’t see Stussy dying anytime soon.
Edison, on the other hand… I’m not sure. There’s still a chance he can escape but I’m not sure how other than Luffy finding and picking him up but I don’t think ole Monkey D.’s near that cloud making facility. Oh well, guess we’ll see.
Ah, yes. The Roger Pirates learned the world had sunk and/or it’s sinking but didn’t tell anyone. Why? I want answers, darn it! And if I can’t get them from Crocus or Rayleigh, I guess we’re gonna have to get them from the Man With The Burn Scar. A number of One Piece fans, including myself, think the Burn Scar Man is a former member of Roger’s crew? Is he Scopper Gaban? Maybe. It’s a shot in the dark, but the audience needs an explanation as to why the Roger Pirates didn’t at least warn people what was happening/happened. And since I doubt the Straw Hats are making a U-turn back to Sabaody Archipelago in order to interrogate Rayleigh, someone they’ll eventually meet will be tasked with revealing that information. Hear that Roger Pirates? You’re on fraud watch until further notice!
This was a good chapter! More lore dumping is always good, even if it’s being spread along several chapters. Honestly, Y’all, I’m glad the transmission is about the end. This whole lore dump/cameo/reaction thing is getting kind of old. No more transmission, alright? …What’s that sound? Is that a mob? Why are you so angry? …Huh? No. I didn’t say no more trans rights! I said… Wait! Stop! Not in the face! Nooo!
