Dr. Vegapunk putting all of Joy Boy’s business in the streets.
My brain is bumpin’ with theories about Joy Boy and the Void Century. I don’t know where to start. Hmm… How about we start with Joy Boy losing the war and the rising sea level confirmed not to be a natural phenomenon. It’s safe to assume that the Ancient Weapons were used during the Void Century, and I doubt it was by Joy Boy. If true, then The Alliance had access to and used Ancient Weapons. …Ancient Civilization. …20 Kingdoms/The Alliance.
Hmm…
Did the Ancient Civilization consist of at least 20 kingdoms? That would explain how they got access to the weapons: The rulers of those kingdoms either commanded they be made or stole them from another kingdom.
Joy Boy couldn’t have been just “some dude”. Entire kingdoms don’t join up just to stomp some guy. Joy Boy was important. Perhaps a king or prince? One of those I-Hate-Being-Royalty types who desired to be free. Hence, he became a pirate.
Although, that doesn’t fully explain why the 20 kingdoms would pick a fight with him. Unless, they didn’t care about Joy Boy and only fought him because he was trying to stop them from doing something horrible. Something like…taking over the world? And in trying to take down Team Joy Boy, they forked up the planet.
Of course, destroying most of the planet could’ve been part of the plan too. Like I said last chapter, the Celestial Dragons living on top of the Red Line can’t be just a coincidence.
Can we all agree Joy Boy was a D.? …We can’t? Well, fine—but I still think that he was one.
Wait a minute! If Alabasta and Dressrosa were ruled by members of The Alliance, then could those places been part of the Ancient Civilization at one time? Just how big was the AC?! As big as one continent at least, but it could’ve consisted of multiple continents. Heck, most of the known world could’ve been part of that advanced civilization. It wouldn’t matter seeing as most of the world’s land mass is underwater. Most, if not, all of the technology would be lost. Especially, if the ones in charge (King Imu & Friends) were actively keeping their sea level raising misdeeds a secret from the public at large.
Pluto and Uranus. I wonder if more than one existed? Was there a fleet of Plutos? Or, a bunch of big, wide Uranuses spread across the sky? Heh. If that’s not the case. If Uranus was THE super weapon, was Pluto built to stop it? Is Pluto Joy Boy’s ship?! That would explain why the World Government doesn’t have it. After his defeat, Joy Boy could’ve asked Wano to hide it. Maybe the whole closed borders policy originated from Wano wanted to keep the newly formed World Government from ever finding the ship? Hmm…
So, if the Ancient Civilization was spread across a good chunk of the planet, what’s so special about Laugh Tale? Is that Joy Boy’s kingdom? The origin of the Ancient Civilization? I’m pretty sure we’re gonna get the complete Void Century backstory once the Straw Hats arrive there, so I’m guessing yes to at least one of those questions.
Enough about the past! What’s gonna happen to Edison and Stussy? There really isn’t anyone around to save Edison except for Luffy, but the Straw Hat captain doesn’t even know where the little guy is. As for Stussy? Maybe Kaku will secretly help her escape? Honestly, I’m more worried about Edison seeing as his role in the arc seems to be done and there are other Vegapunks who will survive. Plus, Stussy is a pretty woman not in a flashback, so the chances of Oda not killing her are high. My guess is: Edison, 40% chance he’ll survive. Stussy, 80% chance she’ll survive.
This was a good chapter! More One Piece lore is always good. I don’t think there’s much else for Dr. Vegapunk to say other than clearly stating the World Government is raising the sea level and telling us the name of the Ancient Civilization and it’s relationship to Laugh Tale and the One Piece. Interesting how we haven’t seen Shanks or Blackbeard’s reactions to Vegapunk’s message yet, huh? I bet they’re each recording a reaction video to the news. What a bunch of sellouts!
