The hit children’s show made for preschoolers, Bluey, is getting an anime adaption. According to the press release, this new version of Bluey stars the Heeler family happily living in Japan (not Australia where the original series takes place) where Bluey’s archaeologist dad, Bandit, finds an ancient gemstone that radiates imagination energy. Soon after, a space armada attacks looking to steal all the imagination from Earth’s inhabitants in order to power their military forces.
Bluey—with the help of her airport security personnel turned scientist mother, Chilli—use the gemstone to power a talking mech named Janet that only Bluey can control with the power of her imagination. Assisting Bluey and her giant robot will be H.E.E.L.E.R., a secret organization led by her Uncle Stripe, tasked with saving the world from extraterrestrial threats.
When asked how much money and blow it took to approve this project, the creator of Bluey laughed for twenty minutes straight then simply replied “A lot”.
