My wish didn’t come true. But, I got the next best thing!
Yes, my friends, All F. One is finally dead! Yahoo! Yipee! Who wants a slice of my AFO’s Dead Celebration Cake? Its got buttercream icing. Yum!
Jeez Louise! That battle lasted a long time! Sure, it had some good moments with All Mech throwing everything but the kitchen sink at AFO. But, still, learn how to get in, show the good stuff, then get out, Horikoshi. I know. I know. It’s not so much a Horikoshi problem as it is a shonen problem. So what? It’s my AFO Funeral Party and I’ll whine if I want to.
I will give high marks for Horkoshi erasing AFO’s captured quirks along with him. A lesser author would’ve magically have them return to their original owners. Sure, it sucks that Hawks will have to retire from the hero biz, but it gives weight to the story. The world won’t be reset after this arc. There are things and people who will be forever changed by this war, and I’m glad we’ll see some of those consequences.
So, all that’s left is Shigaraki (and that final Tartarus escapee whose fight will get shoehorned into the main fight in some way) and the day will be saved. But, wait! Shigaraki managed to steal Danger Sense from Deku! Interesting. Makes me wonder how many of the previous OFA User’s quirks Shiggy will snatch? Will it all come down to Deku just having to use 100% OFA? Maybe. As long as this fight doesn’t last another six months, I don’t really care.
This was a good chapter! Why? Because AFO’s dead! Huh? Shigaraki wants to literally destroy Japan? This is what I get for hosting this party in Tokyo. Oh well… Yo, DJ? Turn it up! This twerk dance train ain’t stoppin’ til dawn! ♫Holiday! Celebrate!♫

I’m glad he’s gone, too. And i saw a pretty funny translation of the Final panel where Tomura says “I’ve Always Had The 4th Gear” after taking Danger Sense! I was like “What? He Took 4th Gear?”
I think this is how Horikoshi will get around the “One For All Can No Longer Be Passed On” problem- taking some of the proverbial “Ice” out of the “glass” that is One For All, leaving some space for NEW “ice Cubes.” Or- as I’ve speculated- Tenko and Tomura will end up separating, and Izuku will give One For All to the young Tenko, giving him the chance to be a Hero. Now he won’t be QUITE as strong- AND he’ll be able to “grow into the quirk” a little bit better without all those quirks in the clutter.
I’m still not happy about Bakugo’s survival- nor All For One’s stay in the story- but I WILL say that I’ve been enjoying the series more these days. I haven’t bought a volume in a very long time; I refuse to pay for a series that let me down like this. But THIS conclusion- Horikoshi turning All For Nothing into a BABY, not to mention Bakugo’s TRIUMPH in this chapter- SO COOL- Almost bought Volume 6 recently! Still debating on it, actually.
Still got that last Tartarus guy, huh? Okay. Just take your 3 little chapters and wrap it up, Horikoshi; this series has CLEARLY gone on long enough.

Tenko and Tomura separating? I guess if that happens then Horikoshi can have his cake and eat it too with having Deku both save and defeat Shigaraki. Very interesting. I’m gonna have to sit on that idea for awhile.
Resetting OFA? I’m fine with it. It makes me wonder about the future of the series. I’d love a sequel at some point but Horikoshi may be so burned out that he will never return to the series. I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again: The MHA World has so much potential to continue under other mangaka like with My Hero Vigilantes that I hope it goes that route and we at least get another series in this world from another mangaka.
Bakugo is too popular to let him die without a major endgame win, so I wasn’t too surprised he returned. My question was always how it would happen. That said, I wonder who will help Deku out. I don’t see this battle just being Shiggy VS Deku. If the AFO fight(s) is any indication, there’s a lot more twists happening. One, I hope is heroes from other countries helping. But, at the very least Kurogiri, Eraser Head, and Present Mic will have to show up for the assist at some point.
As for the last Tartarus guy? Whatever! I feel like it’s too little too late. The battle order in this arc leaves much to be desired.

I’m not usually one for the anime changing things, but I think I can make an exception this time: I hope they change the fight order when it comes time for Final War to be adapted. Season 7(? That’s the next season, right?) is set to adapt everything from Star’s arrival to……….. unless they FLUFF all of it, then we should be getting the beginning of the War and at least Shoto vs Dabi 1. Something around that; I think the ending of that fight would be the best place to end the season.
And yeah; I’ve always felt like this series has the potential to go on FOREVER. Honestly, I wouldn’t mind just seeing an anthology type of series- a monthly series with a new main character every chapter with a plot that can be told in 1-2 chapters. This is one of those stories where it feels like Everyone is the “Would-Be Main Character” of their own side stories; they should capitalize on THAT rather than make a straight up sequel that has an end goal(I would hope).
I mostly came up with the Separation idea based on the Singularity abilities and the little flash of Tenko that leaked out against Mirio. Tomura- the will of the “Decay” quirk- spits out Tenko’s consciousness into a body he made for him, becoming a genuine “Monster” and freeing himself of that last little bit of conscience he has.
Eraser and Kurogiri DEFINITELY, and Mic might be there but drop off rather quickly. I think Horikoshi is going to keep this a “Most Important Character” type of thing- Aizawa, Uraraka, Todoroki, Aizawa- characters of that nature. With Kurogiri there because of what he means to Tomura- not that I’m saying he’ll HELP Tomura. He might try talking to him much like Deku is.
I don’t think Horikoshi will return to this series; I honestly don’t think he’ll ever make another manga again. This series may have……… RUINED his perception of making Manga altogether- it’ll be a miracle if he even does a Quarterly series.
