I think Blackbeard’s half D. and half Buccaneer.
I know. I know. That has nothing to do with the chapter but I’m calling it now.
Anyway, St. Saturn is quite the bastard. Well, more than usual. Could his zoan fruit be influencing his personality? Seriously, that guy went from 10 to 100 pretty quickly. And not even Sanji can stand up to him! Don’t go outside at night, Sanji fans. Zoro fans are lurking in the shadows, ready to pounce/debate how, if Zoro was there, Saturn would be dead.
Bartholomew Kuma. We’re finally getting his backstory. Not only do we learn he’s a Buccaneer but he’s also a slave. You know, first I assumed Sun God Nika would be associated with the D’s. Where exactly do they fit into all of this? Guess we’ll have to wait and see.
Oda’s really building up the Celestial Dragons as completely heartless. If anyone doubted they’d get knocked off their ivory tower by the end of the series, you can relax. They are totally getting what’s coming to them, eventually.
Back to Kuma. He met Emporio Ivankov (also a slave) as a child. It’s all coming together as to why those two, along with Dragon, created the Revolutionary Army. But, who’s Ginny? The One Piece fandom seems to think she’s Jewelry Bonney’s mother, and I agree. If nothing else, because she’s eating meat. Bonney probably got her appetite from her. And considering Kuma’s a single father, things aren’t looking good for Ginny.
Both Luffy and Kizaru are temporarily down. You know the drill. Gotta take Luffy off the battlefield at least once during an arc. Fine with me. That gives the other Straw Hats time to shine.
This was a good chapter! We get to see more of Saturn and Kuma’s backstory. I’m looking forward to the next chapter. By the way, I’m not ready to dismiss God Valley’s name as random. There’s got to be a reason for it. I’m guessing we’ll revisit the island during a Void Century flashback. Or, I could be overthinking it and Usopp’s gonna rule the island by the end of the series. Wait, I’m still overthinking it. I need to get out more.
