Is Toga worthy of sympathy or does the character simply sucks…blood?
The short answer is yes, but she’s also killed people. So, yeah, she’s a villain, even if you feel sorry for her…just like most of the League of Villains.
I really don’t like the way Horikoshi holds character motivations/developments for many supporting characters until the end of the series. We should’ve gotten Toga’s full backstory years ago. Years! Now, I don’t care as much and her sob story’s being used to the same effect as Spinner and Dabi: To drum up sympathy before their defeat. It’s the same song with slightly different lyrics. It’s gotten old. Call Timberland, because we need a remix for this tired tune.
What new information have we learned from Toga’s past that we didn’t learn in the My Villain Academia arc? A few details here and there but it’s essentially the same: Toga’s parents are assholes and she had to suppress her blood loving self. Again, this was not worth waiting years to see. Now, I understand we may get more to Toga’s backstory next chapter and this might all be a recap. Even so, that’s still not good. Just full in the blanks to her missing backstory. Don’t waste my time showing stuff I already know.
As I said before, Toga’s parents are horrible. Do neither of them have blood sucking quirks? Did Toga’s quirk skip a generation or something? And if so, shouldn’t they have experience dealing with a quirk like that? Toga’s parents are so concerned with keeping up appearances they turned their child into a mental mashed potato mess of a person.
But what if Toga’s quirk is something new, you ask? Okay, how about giving your kid animal blood from a butcher shop or artificial blood? Yeah, artificial blood is a thing. Toga can blame society until she’s blue in the face, but I put the blame squarely on Toga’s ignorant parents. Period.
Uravity got stabbed! Uh-oh! Time for her to go all in on her Talk no Jutsu. If Ochaco Uraraka doesn’t get the Emmy for Best Actress so help me I’ll riot.
This was an okay chapter! I wanted more info but instead it’s the same Toga’s-Parents-Are-Garbage dance we got before. Oh! And let’s not forget Toga’s getting a villain name. Wowie! And it only took reaching the final friggin’ arc for it to happen. Ugh! Anyway, place your bets now on what it’ll be. Bloody Mary. Vampry. Staberella. Vlad the Impaler. Hmm? I think I’ll go with Dragula. Toga’s a huge fan of Rupaul’s Drag Race, after all.

I have no clue WHAT her Villain name could be? Isn’t “Toga” a false name, anyway? I thought she was just using a fake name all along; I didn’t think we’d be getting a full Villain Name for her- like Tomura. Then again, “Tomura” and “Tenko” are different people at this point. But yeah; it’s a little too late in the game for a Villain name, huh?

I guess Horikoshi was going with Toga not being a full fledge villain until now. Or, at least that’s what she thinks, BUT it doesn’t matter because she IS a villain. She’s a murderer and a terrorist. Toga accepting her villain role doesn’t matter much this late in the game. It doesn’t reset all the bad things she’s already done.
