Quirks: One Even Once!
Well, one is okay. The problem with Spinner is All For One giving him two quirks. Including his originial Gecko, Body Bulk and Scalemail gives Spinner three quirks. That’s not good, Y’all. Too many quirks inhabiting one body can mess you up unless you have the body and/or a special quirk (ex. One For All or All For One) to handle them. Spinner has neither.
I feel bad for Spinner. I consider him currently the most sympathetic League of Villains member, joining the malevolent group to make the world better for all heteromorphs. And now that he’s finally back on track to do something about it, AFO takes away his ability to think, to choose his own path. Tragic.
It’s also kinda lazy. Spinner and other heteromorphs have a valid point about being treated as less than human. But instead of showing both sides in a complicated gray way, Spinner’s a hulking blood-lusted monster needing to be put down by a hero. Spinner, bad. Shoji, good. Get it? Got it? Good. And also boring.
Koda’s getting an upgrade. Looks like he can control more animals now. Fine. But he better not be able to sway humans with his powers, too. That’ll be another cop-out and ruin this arc for me.
So, how should this arc end? How do you resolve a socially heated problem as discrimination? What do you say to a group of people treated as inferior for generations? Why should they not fight back against a world that spits on them? Those are hard questions. And once again I have to say I have little confidence Horikoshi will give us a satisfying conclusion. It’s gonna take more than a Talk no Jutsu to set things on the right path. But it looks like that’s what’s gonna happen after Shoji defeats Spinner. Here’s hoping I’m wrong.
This was a good chapter! This arc is much better than anything happening with AFO/Shigaraki. If Horikoshi can stick the landing, I may even forgive him for not having heroes comment on discrimination until the final arc. Hahaha! Just kidding! I won’t. It’s still a stupid decision, Hori. No dessert with dinner for you tonight.

I agree focusing on discrimination in the final arc is too late. On top of that I suspect the fight between the heteromorphs won’t late that long and the topic will be dropped. Removing Spinners complexity was disappointing but I guess it does show how All For One uses people.

Yeah. It’s a shame Spinner got on the chopping block for AFO. Spinner’s been around for most of the series. He deserves better if at least not to be a waste of a character.
