Flower-Flower power in full effect. Nico Robin’s bloomin’ for a bruisin’ and Black Maria’s about to become fertilizer.
I don’t know if you realize this, but I love Nico Robin. She’s my favorite Straw Hat crew member. I love everything about her (Well, maybe not her design change, but that’s a whole other rant.), so this chapter is an instant classic for me.
Robin got a fight AND Brook didn’t steal her thunder! It’s mostly Robin VS Black Maria, which I wanted in the first place so good on you, Oda, for giving up the goods.
The fight was brutal. Robin took a lot of punches, but in the end, she stomped that spider. I like flashback to Koala, Sabo, and Hack. Normally, I hate flashbacks during fights, but it’s Robin and I’m biased, so I make no apology. And, thank Sun God Nika for Koala teaching Robin how to properly fight! You’re a pirate, not a schoolteacher, Robin. You gotta get down and dirty if you want to survive the Grandline…and long lines at archaeology conventions.
So, was Robin using haki in her demon mode? I think so. Robin learning armament haki makes perfect sense given her limb sprouting devil fruit, so I hope it’s true.
Time to talk about Momonosuke and Shinobu. I know. I know. I don’t want to either, but breaking down every Robin panel in massive detail, as fun as that would be, would take too long. So, yeah, Momonosuke’s gonna become an adult. Okay. I don’t really care either way, but let’s see where that goes. At least Luffy has a way back to Onigashima, so I’m fine with it.
This was the best One Piece chapter in years! No, decades, I’d say! It was a Nico Robin fight. That’s all you need to know and all you need to enjoy it. Was it the best Wano Straw Hat fight? Yes, and no. Yes, I loved it more than the others for biased reasons, but Black Maria wasn’t that interesting an opponent, so that brought the fight down. Oh, and Brook was there. And, BTS too. What? You didn’t see them? It’s okay. That just proves you were engrossed with watching Robin-chan. A wise decision, indeed.
