Mother. F*cker.
Welp! Now we know why Detective Tanuma hasn’t shown up in the main series. He’s dead. Well…unless he’s got a quirk that could protect him, but I doubt it. No one knew AFO was back at the beginning of My Hero Academia. Meaning, Tanuma didn’t survive to tell anyone about the connection between the Underground Masquerade Case, All For One, and the Instant Villains. Yeah, he’s dead.
Oh, Number 6. You crazy bastard. Now you’re having visions of O’Clock. Well, actually, someone on a forum (Thanks, Rizaadxn!) pointed out that No. 6 “talked” to fake O’Clock before way back in chapter 71. This just adds more fuel to the O’Clock obsessive fire. Remember, he called the former hero his master even though the two hadn’t met until the Sky Egg Arc. Not to mention his sociopathic determination in becoming the next O’Clock in both name and profession. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, when No. 6 is forced to realize The Crawler is the better speedster (and true successor to O’Clock) he’s gonna flip his shit!
So, who’s the “him” AFO’s plans are moving closer to? I’d say his little brother’s quirk AKA One For All. AFO is unwilling to fight All Might at this point in time. He needs an edge or two. The Nomu being one. AFO himself gaining more quirks without fear of Quirk Singularity is another. Check this out:
Could AFO originally wanted Overclock as a means of mentally controlling a larger number of stolen quirks? Maybe after getting farted on by All Might, his injured body couldn’t handle the oxygen demand necessary to use the speed quirk (Thanks again to Rizaadxn from the Mangahelpers forum for the theory.) and decided to give it to his Quirk Singularity experiment, No. 6, letting the Artificial Human test the limits of Overclock instead. It’s possible. No. 6 isn’t just some goon. There’s more to his ultimate purpose than speedy assassin. If Nine from the 2nd My Hero Academia movie was a test of the procedure Shigaraki would take, I can see No. 6 being an earlier guinea pig for the same experiment.
And, yeah, I was right about the Underground Masquerade Case being the beginning of an investigation by O’Clock leading to him tracking down AFO for All Might. It’s a welcomed surprise how important Iwao Oguro was to the Naruhata Vigilantes, but to All Might himself!
A very good chapter and great ending to this arc! We’re back in the present, y’all. So, what’s next? Well, with Tanuma dead, Detective Tsukauchi will have to step up and help Team Koichi as best he can. No. 6 will continue taking out loose ends, none looser than Pop Step. She’s next unless The Crawler and Friends can stop him. Hope you’ve been keeping up on your Pilates, Koichi, ’cause No. 6 is about to bench press all your faces into dust.

One reply on “Detective Tanuma Knew-ma Too Tanu-much [My Hero Vigilantes 94]”
The more Vigilantes reveals; the more All For One’s plan begins to be fleshed out for the main series. Having read the fan translations for the new chapter of the main series; I’ve come up with a mini-theory about what All For One’s Gran plan is beyond just snatching a new body. I think you’ll like it.
I’m starting to wonder what will become of No 6 by the end of this series. No WAY Koichi killed him; he’s not that kind of guy. And he’s not the type to just let him die- whether letting Suga kill him or No 6 offing himself because he realized Koichi was better is irrelevant. So where is No 6 now?
Mirko didn’t seem to hate this particular team up. Rather; she looked like she had fun. So why does she hate team ups so much in the main series?
