If you do not tell the whole truth, you can mislead people just as if you tell them an outright lie. -proverb
That being said… Bravo, Dabi! You, Sir, have joined Super Shigaraki and Gigantomachia in completely destroying Japan’s absolute trust in their current hero society forever. As if the confession and DNA test wasn’t enough, you recorded Twice’s death! I freaking forgot about you having some sort of device in your possession back at Gunga Villa. Oh, Hori, you lovable scamp. You sure do love dropping clues to future plot reveals. It’s just one of the reasons why I love you (Call me!).
Did you notice that little flashback was in Endeavor’s POV, y’all? That’s right. Hori was nice enough to give us a little taste, but the real meat and potatoes will be shown once we see everything from Toya’s POV. It’ll pick up right after Toya’s fire quirk started hurting him and will, hopefully, include how he survived the fire at Sekoto Peak (No doubt in my mind Toya continued training his quirk in hopes Daddy Endeavor would accept him again.).
Acceptance. I never realized until after reading this chapter that Endeavor was capable of being a decent human being years ago but let his disappointment and insecurities warp him into a full-on jackass. That’s even worse! If Papa Flame was always a piece of pelican poop none of the kids would give a crap about him today. But, no, he was somewhat a parent for a time. Somewhat of a father. That’s why it hurts so much for Toya. To be loved and adored by his father then suddenly thrown away like garbage over something he had no control over. Geez, no wonder Toya went crazy!
Why did Toya’s hair turn white? My guess is it’s Rei’s ice genes. Over time, he couldn’t handle that kind of heat due to having a heat sensitive body. Seems like all of Endeavor’s kids ended up having something of Rei’s ice genetics. Going by Pokemon rules, ice does defeat fire so it makes sense, I guess.
Dabi was holding back this entire time. He knows Endeavor’s attacks! Dude almost Prominence Burned his old man! Oh, baby, if Dabi wasn’t dangerous before, he sure as hell is now with his fire claws out and ready to scratch.
Hm? How did Dabi survive Sekoto Peak? Did someone save him? A secret ally, maybe? Did he save himself but realized he’d never be accepted by his father after burning his body so badly? I don’t know, but it’s gonna be juicy when it’s revealed!
Did you catch Mr. Compress’ comment about “another having quite the bloodline”? Now, he could be referring to Re-Destro being OG Destro’s descendant, but I’m thinking he’s taking about the core League of Villains, notably himself. So, if true, who’s Mr. Compress related to? Someone on a forum guessed it was Oji Harima and I’d have to agree for the simple fact I can’t think of anyone else it could be. Plus, a thief having a quirk that turns anything into a small marble would be really convenient so let’s go with that for now.
Don’t think I forgot about Hawks’ father. Is he in Tartarus? Probably. I’m sure we’ll see him one day.
What about Hawks’ hero career? Is he done like Endeavor? Hmm……… Hard to say. Dabi lying about Best Jeanist will come to light quickly but people did see actual footage of the #2 hero killing someone. Justified or not, there’s gonna be people who don’t like that and will use it to perpetuate Hawks being a murderer just like his father. This one is a tough call… And, even if he’s still accepted, will his wings grow back? I just don’t know about this one, kiddies.
This was a great chapter! Dabi’s taking the biggest, hottest, smelliest dump on Endeavor and I’m loving every second of it. But, now Best Jeanist is here to stop the party. This arc is nearing it’s end, as I’ve said 48 times previously. With Shigaraki seemingly down for the count, all the League can do is get the heck outta there. I just hope Toga has enough money for an Uber, because something tells me the League won’t have time to wait for her.

I heard an online theory-the theory that Rei’s quirk involves liquid nitrogen in some way. And when Nitrogen is introduced to flames; they turn blue. So in that way; Toya DID inherit part of Rei’s quirk- just not in the way that Enji had wanted. This would also in some part explain why his hair began to turn white around the time he awakened his quirk. I also like the idea of his survival being contributed to the awakening of that other aspect of his quirk.
As far as the Best Jeanist reveal goes; that DOES propose a problem for Dabi. This could cause the public to contrive in their minds that Dabi fudged everything in that video…..at least until those 2 “Model Heroes” come out and tell the public the truth. “Because that’s what Heroes do,” right? Heh heh…..
I wonder how long Tomura’s gonna play the quiet game? I know he’s going for an all time record, but now is REALLY not the time. Especially since his Super regeneration’s failing right now.

An interesting theory. I don’t know enough about nitrogen but I don’t think adding that would make Dabi’s fire stronger even though it may make it blue.
Sure, Dabi was wrong about Best Jeanist but the Hero Well has been poisoned. There’s no going back. He is Toya and that along with the huge failure the heroes have this arc will change the public’s outlook on them for a long time.
Going by Horikoshi’s love of Star Wars, I like to think this arc is his The Empire Strikes Back.
