…Eh? Close enough.

This chapter reveals how Kozuki Oden met up with most of his samurai. Holy crap, Oda’s moving 90 KPH through this flashback! I still don’t care about them. There’s no time to care! Why? Because we have to see Oden’s epic fight against Ashura Doji in Kuri—and it got skipped. Whatever, Oda.
But, hey! Oden turned all the criminals in Kuri into his followers and fixed up the area! How? You see he… Damn it, Oda! You skipped that too?! Is this a flashback or a Netflix intro?

Well, guess what? Seriously, you’ll never guess what happens after Lord Sukiyaki un-disowns Oden and makes him daimyo of Kuri. You wanna know? A six-year time skip. Bet you didn’t see that coming? I’ve seen less skipping at elementary school playgrounds.
We end the chapter with Kawamatsu (No doubt already one of Oden’s vassals by now.) finding Cat Viper and Dogstorm washed up on the shore. Sure. Fine. I just hope we get some focus on them next chapter.

This was a…I don’t know what to call it. It wasn’t bad, just fast as hell. Wait a minute. Izo? Hmm…OH! The 16th division Whitebeard Commander! Wow, I didn’t realize when I first read the chapter. Nice, Oda. You get one cookie.
I can’t forget to mention Orochi trying to pin Lord Yasuie’s stolen money on Oden. So, what’s Orochi gonna do, or has done, with the money? I’m sure whatever it is it will help all of Wano. And, by helping all of Wano I mean it won’t, at all.
This chapter got me in the mood to binge-watch. Disney+ here I come!

Hey! I know the pacing has sped up a lot. Especially recently. Is that for better or worse? On 1 hand; Oda works so hard(I heard one in an interview that he gets like 3 hours of sleep a WEEK), so if he’s speeding up the pacing to make good on his most recent “5 year” statement, I can live with it. Plus; a whole chapter on ALL the scabbard? Yeah; Izo needs some explanation, but the others(aside from Kin-emon) I don’t think are all too interesting. Also; the anime. Perfect filler material.
On the other end; the series is at its best when it’s taking it’s time. So yes; the pacing is a bit jarring. But still; good chapter. Although it could have been 2 or more.

I heard about Oda and other weekly mangaka’s insane (and stupid) schedules. That’s an issue for the companies they work for. From purely a story aspect, the flashback is moving way too fast for me. You shouldn’t need the anime to better understand the original source material.
