Sure, it’s possible Big Mom and Kaido were just friends or frenemies but this is Oda’s One Piece we’re talking about. After seeing how attractive Big Mom was in the past and her having baby daddies all over the universe, you can’t tell me she didn’t hook up with someone in her old crew.

Let’s back it up for now and— You know what? Let’s not! Why do I have to talk about a chapter in order? It’s not like I haven’t gone out of sequence before. Okay, then, Big Mom and Kaido. They do the whole split heavens apart thing Shanks and Whitebeard did when they first met. As you may know, this only happens when two mega level fighters clash. Will Luffy and Kaido have a clash like that or will Oda save it for when he meets Blackbeard? Hm. I’d say Blackbeard.
We learn Lead Performer/All-Star King is part of a rare race. Double hm. Big Mom said there were three races not part of her kingdom. I know the Giants are one. Triple hm. Well, I got nothing. No, wait! King’s got wings. Wow, I can’t believe I forgot about the Skypieans. Yep, that’s got to be it, I think. Or, maybe it’s a bird race. In any case, King’s not interested in joining Team Mom.
Napoleon is shy. That’s why he was dormant when Big Mom lost her memory. Moving on.

Ashura reveals he’s been collecting old, broken down ships in preparation for the battle. Naturally, Franky and Usopp will have them in perfect condition in no time. Probably better. Remember the Battle Frankies? The battleships Franky made when he was younger, leading to the creation of his cyborg body and the Iron Franky? Oh, yeah, those ships are gonna be awesome once Franky and Usopp are done with them.
Everyone’s one the run while continuing their plans. Kanjuro’s going to bury Tonoyasu’s body in Kuri, I already mentioned Team Kin’emon with the boats. Team Robin (and Toko) safely escaped and Team Sanji (Sanji and Shinobu) are still at the Flower Capital, trying to figure out a way to free and escape with the prisoners. They also assume Law’s crew is among them. I know I did.
Well, they aren’t. Turns out Law’s crew was freed. The assumption is Law made a deal with Hawkins to betray Luffy and the Alliance for their safety. Pirates doing the betrayal thing and all that. Do I believe it? No. Law’s spent too much time with the Strawhats and Wano crew to turn his back on them and the plan. He probably got a plan of his own. The question is will it work? Hawkins’ no idiot. He may see Law’s false betrayal coming. I mean, it’s not like Law & friends confirmed those three straw dolls Hawkins dropped were the actual ones tied to Bepo and the other two Heart pirates. Quadruple hm…

This was a nice chapter. The best parts being Law’s “betrayal” and the scene between Big Mom and the Animal Kingdom/Beast Pirates. Things are moving along nicely (I think I say that every One Piece chapter, but it’s true.), and I’m interested in what Big Mom and Kaido have to say to each other. We may even get a flashback to their time in the same crew! Could it all lead to a temporary alliance between the two? Stay tuned. Same Strawhat time. Same Strawhat channel!
