The point of no return has been hit. There was a chance Tenko could’ve gone down the right path. A chance he could recover from his trauma in a healthy way and go on to be a productive member of society.
But, not on All For One’s watch.

People can be crappy. Yep, as mentioned by Shigaraki before, no one tried to help him in his time of need. Like seriously, there’s an f-ed up looking kid walking around by himself and no one called the police? Damn. Well, that was society’s last chance to prevent Tomura Shigarki’s birth, and they failed.
All For One makes it very clear how he wants Tenko to think. That’s what’s so insidious about him. It’s complete manipulation on his part in turning Tenko into Shigaraki, but it’s in a similar way to a parent teaching their child. But, instead of teaching your kid to be a good person, you tell him “Nah, screw the rules. Do whatever you want.” And, what happens when you tell a child who holds onto anger and sadness and murderous intent like it was a new toy to do what they want? Dead street punks. Specifically, the kind who earlier beats up Tenko. Why do I have the feeling All For One was watching Tenko kill his family the same way he watched him kill those punks? What a jerk!

And, with that, Tomura Shigaraki was born. Points to Tenko for not killing those street punks the first time, but All For One gently pushes him over the edge. He was already damaged, but thanks to All For One, Tenko, no, Tomura Shigaraki is broken beyond repair. Cementing Tenko’s transformation is All For One revealing the name “Shigaraki” is his real name! Yes, Tomura has a new daddy now, and papa’s gonna mold his son into the worst thing to hit society since paid DLC.
The flashback ends with Tomura remembering everything from his past. He’s happy to destroy as long as his friends get what they want too. Aw, the power of friendship, Y’all! Proclaiming he doesn’t need them anymore, Tomura destroys his father’s hand. New villain outfit incoming?

What a great chapter! We end Shigaraki’s compelling origin story perfectly, with him determined to stay on his destructive path, ready to put the hurt on Re-Destro. But, Gigantomachia is making his way to Shigaraki, so could we end up having a 3-way battle royale? Or, will Giganto let Shigaraki duke it out while waiting on the sidelines? From the way Giganto is rampaging through town, I don’t think he’s in the mood to sit anything out, but the new and improved Shigaraki might be more persuasive now. If not, I look forward to hearing Twice play Taps on a cloned bugle.
