Hitoshi Shinso, the only student in the U.A. General Department given any type of development. Interesting, considering it was said students in Heroics and General can be moved into either department based on their performance. That little piece of information got me thinking.
We saw Shinso with Shota Aizawa AKA Eraserhead together in an almost throwaway panel. Okay, not throwaway because many fans are speculating Izawa could be training Shinso after his performance in the Yuuei Sports Festival, and I agree it’s possible. Both have quirks ineffective against robots used to measure quirk strength in the entrance exam. Easy to assume Aizawa thinks, with the right training, Shinso can be placed in the Heroics Department. My question is:
Does a heroics student have to get bumped down for a general student to be transferred?
Sure, Class 1-A has extra rooms in their dorm, possibly for new students but let’s assume twenty is the ideal number per class and look at things from a story perspective. Shinso switching with someone from Class 1-B doesn’t make an impact. Transferring a minor Class 1-B student seems pointless and no way will Tetsutetsu, Kendou, or any spotlighted Class 1-B character gets transferred out. No, for the greatest impact Shinso will take the place of a Class 1-A student–the traitor!
It’s only a matter of time before the traitor is found and ousted, and if that person is a Class 1-A student, that leaves room for someone in general to take their place. A trained Shinso with the help of Aizawa fits the bill perfectly. A round of applause for Horikoshi not only building to a U.A. traitor but to someone who could replace her or him.
Whatever the circumstances, I don’t see Shinso spending his entire tenure at U.A. in the General Department.
